I've got myself into a, lets say 'discussion' confused With my best friend..
We went to different primary school's and have both been brought up with 'I can sing a rainbow' differently.
For me it is... 'Red and yellow and pink and green... Purple and orange and blue'
For my friend.. 'Red and yellow and pink and green... orange and purple and blue'.
I have done searched for the lyrics but i cannot find the origional. The lyrics i have found by 3 different people all say... Purple orange blue
Here below are the links...

Don't be sorry.... My point is how differently your taught things. There is only a month between us in age so it's no way an 'age thing'.
My daughter went to the primary school i did(all those yrs ago) and she sings it just like me. I've asked a number of people from work and its mixed.
biggrin
I was taught the second one at primary school so would have to agree with ya friend on this one smile
I'm with your friend as well! smile
Yup... my roomies at work agree... as do the British Council as someone has just left me a printout on my chair! lol

yes. wink
Has always been 'Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue' for me and mine
Red and yellow and pink and green Purple and orange and blue I can sing a rainbow.... :karaoke:
I remember singing both versions at different schools, but '...orange and purple and blue' feels more natural. That doesn't help much does it?
I had purple, and blue and then orange
Just sat here singing it.
biggrin

Sorry Sarah but that doesn't scan with the music. I always taught it as orange and purple and blue
It's "purple and orange and blue" as far as I'm aware.
"Red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue. I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow sing a rainbow too."
