I am surprised to find that no one has made any comment about the article in issue 24 18 November - 1 December Real Magazine. The front page screamed at me as I walked passed the rack this evening "Sexy or Seedy? Swinging is Back" Obviously I bought the magazine (only £1) and have read the article to find that our very own web master Mark, and his lovely wife Helen contributed to this piece, and naturally this site is mentioned. You kept that quiet Mark confused
The item in the magazine, while well written is relatively tame; and for people who visit here you will not learn anything you did not already know.
I must confess to being particularily curious about this as just about a year ago Paul and I were 'interviewed' via the phone about male chastity for the same magazine (different journalist). We were treated to a couple of hours in a very posh hotel at Easter for a photo shoot, and were told the article would be published in June. Alas we were not included, they did do a thing on chastity, but it was exceptionally tame and purely about female chastity. So tell me Mark and Helen, (please satisfy my curiosity) how long ago were you interviewed for this?

A friend telephoned us today about the article. She too had been attracted by the title and the fact that it was only £1.
Not yet seen it but look forward to reading it.
Maybe a copy could be posted on the site for all to read confused:

Very fair and well explained. I like that the articles emphasis is on having a secure, loving and committed relationship with your partner before attempting to involve others.
biggrin
MARK - what are you doing up so late????? Get some rest!!
lol I thought that was an excellent article! - especially the comment from Dave about Lobster Thermidor! rotflmao
I shall now go out an buy the first copy of Real that I have ever bought - just as a reward for them writing such a good article!
I did notice that the "7000 visits a day" that the site received then is somewhat out of date! wink

I could be mistaken but I'm sure I've read this article earlier this year in a national sunday paper (poss Express) it seems to be a montage of different pieces,
although it is still a good read without being sensationalist and it is a pity there is not more like it only original next time perhaps ??
ive just read the items and although the content is tame,it portrays people who swing as normal everday people which i think most of us contrasts hugely with 2 items which appeared in my local free paper the describes doggers and swingers as"sleazy, sordid".That we indulged in shadowy practices etc etc,as i know personally somebody who works for the paper i asked him what he thought with regard to the items content,he just shrugged in response and said he didnt write second item caused my much amusement lol The reporter was supposedly taken on journey around the local dogging spot by somebody described as "a major player in the murky world of the swinging scene".He goes on to describe his dogging attire "camouflage jacket with dark jeans and a mask" yeah ok i dont think that many people would flash their lights in invitation to him, more likely try and run him we are portrayed as odd, incomplete perverts,i dont think we are,its a shame that not all people can write on the subject with a fair and unbiased view.A final comment although the MP concerned is gay i have to applaude his openness with regard to his advert on whichever website it was,far better than" i was badger spotting "ala Ron Brown? MEP.
Hi Guys Paul n Olive here just thought we would add our two penneth worth (oops showing our age should be at least 2 quids worth now).
Anyway well done mark very well put shows us swingers in a respectable light. Only the one negative for us and that is the statement swinging not to be done as a means to spice up you sex life we feel exactly the oposite and would imagine most peeps do it for exactly that reason. Do agree totally about being in stable and loving relationship though (we been very happily married 28yrs), it probably the most important consideration. If your relationship not stable and above all loving then it going to cause inevitable problems.
Thought the guys in the final piece absolutely spot on and the type of couple we would travel to the end of the world for (Paul not bi but they sound like they would respect that totaly).
Now the second piece we deliberately left to last, does any one else get the same feeling as us, the guy is living in a fantasy world. Who would ever choose their swinging couples the same way this guy says he does. We would suggest it has to be the most unproductive way of having swing fun possible (yet he claimes to have slept with 1800 women in ten years is that not 180 per year or over 3 per weekend). Also his terminoligy is likely to sugest the very sleeze factor we all desperate to shake off ie cruising, something a curb crawler may do but never heard the term used in the swinging scene before. And to suggest he been punched in the face by the occasional angry husband also sugests swinging more dangerous that base jumping lol.
Oh well thats our lot keep up the good work and hope we not bored ya all.

I could be entirely wrong. It wouldn't be the first time, and I'm sure the good people here will correct me if I am.
But if there's an angry husband involved, surely that's not swinging. That's cheating. Entirely different things, or so I believe in my naive and innocent way.
I must be wrong. No respectable journalist would use a source who gets such basic definitions mixed up.
Hiya DJohn,
If I remember rightly, the story was that this bloke and his swinging partner would book in to a hotel, then go and chat to people in the bar on the off chance that they wanted to have sex with someone that night.
The angry husbands were, presumably, where they misjudged the situation. Although there are those that feel that this particular story may have strayed somewhat from the righteous path of reality!
