Weve nearly done the whole music subject to death on here, but ive thought of one thing not yet covered(i hope),and thats record sleeves.
Pink Floyd have always had pfantastic ones as have sooooooo many of the prog rock bands, but for me some of the best have also been some of the simplist ideas like most of New Orders,no nband name on it but if your a fan you just know it's them.
The Beatles whit album, great concept at that time. Simple
Also
The Stones 3d Album cover (can't remember the name of the album).
The following Record Cover is by Ol' Dirty Bastard of The Wu - Tang Clan.
This is a ironic take on a Social Security I.D Card that is needed to get food / money.
Due to Ol' Dirty Bastard being a Millionaire & openly still claiming Social Security its plain Rock n' Roll.
All the New Order sleeves were done by Peter Saville. He's a great designer.
I don't really mourn the passing of records, I love MP3s and download them by the bucketful... the only shame is that record sleeves were an art in themselves. CDs don't look anywhere as nice.
I think Yellow Brick Road and Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy Albums take some beating... I do recall my ex having a Pink Floyd album on CD and it had a red flashing light on the backbone/spine...
:scared: Scared the heebie geebies out of me when I first came across it in a dark room when looking for something else!
the one i remember is roxy music one...it had a girl in bra and pants lying in long grass looking up longingly.......ohhh...was one of my first loin stirings !!!!!

I help design some of Floyd's covers when I wa s a retoucher in the days of yore.
Super black market clash is very evocative, sums up Joe(RIP).New boots and panties by the sadly missed was pretty cool in its realised I've named ttwo heros and there both dead!Better not nominate any Dylan covers. rolleyes
Led Zeppellin's Houses of the Holy.
A local art gallery has framed copies of several Pink Floyd & Led Zep albums, brilliant to look at. However they cost on average about..... £500
Sooooooooooooooooo....... I just keep looking at the cd covers confused
Ah yeah - well cool thread!
Kinky Lizard..poor old Wendy O Williams RIP
Just to saybiggrinean - the original concept with the Roxy Covers was to age the same model on the first album(Kari /Karrie (however they spelt it)Ann - wife of Chris Jagger,Micks bro')a few years until,by about album 6 she'd be an old record co got cold feet about that and nixed it.
Silk and Big G - ironically Hendrix hated the "Electric Ladyland" cover!
I believe the old man pic on Led Zep IV really was just hanging on the partially demolished wall you see on the The Hermit pic on the inside sleeve.
