Someone has just recommended I consider reflexology to help with my general feeling of stressed-out-ness.
I don't really understand what it is.
Maybe I'm getting too skeptical in my old age, can anyone enlighten me? (Or suggest other ways of feeling less stressed that don't involve medicine!)
any sexual activity hehehe, other than trhat a bottle of wine and a spa or bath to chill in, sometimes a massage
as far as i know reflexology is more the deep massage of relieving stress sometimes harser than a general massage. but using certain oils will aid a mood and help relax, but nothing better than getting down n dirty and having some fun xxxxx cummere and will try to help you out lol
My sister used to do reflexology. I didnt get it much either but apparently every part of your foot is somehow linked to parts of the body.
When I was very heavily pregnant with my daughter I was feeling sooooo fed up, fat and frumpy so my sister told me to lie down on the bed and she'd do my feet. I have never felt so relaxed in my life!! She pointed out a squishy lump on the inside of my left foot. She told me that this area of a woman's foot represents the womb and said it would be interesting to see if the lump disappeared after the baby was born. She told me that refexology cannot be performed on ladies in the first stage of pregnancy as it can induce labour therefore triggering miscarriage! :eeek:
Anyhoooo, a couple of days later, my daughter was born and soon after the lump disappeared.
It was very relaxing, I'd recommend it (although I do like Sara's suggestion)
Reflexology sounds good, actually its the sound of Nola and Sarah and massage oil I really like, I'm a predictable bastard no??
I have been doing yoga since I was about 7 or 8, my gran was a teacher of yoga teachers from the mid seventies before it was big. I love it for reducing stress and raising energy levels.
Asana and pranyana - posture and breathing, simply focusing on controlling these clears the mind and can flush out the body too.
My gran is 87 and has shrunk to about 2'6" (bless her) now so I need to find a new teacher, problem is there are too many who do it because its trendy - I think I need to find a crazy old Indian guru guy.
Ill teach you a little when we meet Nola, it might help you get the 'mentality' you have been looking for ;)
Sara... that sounds fun! Maybe I should pop along to the North Wales social :rascal:
Fraser, yoga huh? I've always been intrigued.
Funlovers, is it just massage of the feet then? I don't understand how it works. Sounds fascinating though.
It's mainly the feet but I believe it can be done on hands and ears too.
Wiki might be able to explain it better:
So which bit of the foot is for feet? :giggle:
Any good massage, a relaxing time with your feet above your heart (helps to drain lymph fluid out of the legs and eases leg aches and tension), and some pampering - will have a beneficial effect.
Allowing yourself some real ME time - whether that's a long soak in the bath with the door locked, or a weekly yoga/dancing session - is a great idea too.
A g/f is heavily into reflexology; the way I understand it is that all nerve endings are in hands and feet. So by rubbing different parts of them, that links to most of the body.
You can do this yourself if you want, press a finger/thumb/or knuckle into every part of your palm on both hands and see if there are any lumps bumps or painful areas. Then spend time deeply massaging these bits and see if there is any change. (you don't want to hurt yourself, so just use your common sense)
Most ailments/problem cause something from what she tells me.
Obviously is it easier for someone else to do your feet...but do this for 10mins a day and maybe work up from there.
I saw her help a woman with endomitriosis once, was well funky.
