Hi there,
as a newbie dont want to risk getting on my soapbox, but I had an iffy smear at 19, and had yearly checks from then on.
Long story short, last year they found more iffiness, which turned out to be cervical cancer- at the ripe old age of 31.
Anyway, treatment over and I know have the all clear.
Flipside of the coin- my best friend was just 13 when her mum died of cervical cancer. My friend had always refused to be tested, until this year, she now says she did'nt know what she was worried about, and will go regularly.
Your choice entirely, but taking 20 minutes out of your life every 3 years sounds better than having 30 years taken off your life.
Preaching finished.

very sensible and good advice - I know a couple of people recently that are suffering because they have not keeping an eye on their health.
Once every 3 years just isn't frequent enough in my opinion. I had laser surgery at 24 after pre-cancerous cells were found at a fairly advanced stage from what the consultant said and I had only had the last test 2.5 years before that. I now insist on having one every year and would recommend that to anyone regardless of what your GP or FPC might say - after all, you MOT a car every year so why not your bits? biggrin It's uncomfortable for a short time but worth it to spot problems quickly!
