Hi Stew, welcome to the forums and I can only echo what as already been said above (not sure about Ste being sensible though) 
There are more single guys than couples/females so anything which is going to make you stand out from the crowd will help. You have to put some effort in and show the couples/females that YOU are the person they want to meet and not the other 10,000,000 (well, I am sure you get the idea). Some nice photos always help and preferably not just a load of pics of your cock (all men seem to have one, so unless yours can juggle, or make dinner on its own, its not really going to help).

Basically I can only reiterate what has been written above. It takes time and patience to become known here just the same as anywhere else for that matter.
Speaking as a single male it took me a long time to become known and I did have to put in some long hours and hard work. It does pay off in the long run so don't get despondant, just keep plugging away. It worked for me.
Get in the forums and chat rooms, make your self known. Get out to socials and munches. The more you put in the more you will get out.
Finally be honest, if you are playing as a single man, post as a single man. Posting as a couple and then trying to meet as a single man doesn't work.
