I am aware that there may be a few on here that cannot remember the saucy postcards from a few years back but.....this brought back a few memories of me as a very young kid browsing through them on holiday.

Not a lot to say really but thought I would share the link as there are some crackers there.
I have a collection of saucy(!) postcards on the inside of my hall cupboard door. I should really be a bit of a grown up and take them down but I figure if I need to use the ironing board or the hoover then I might as well have a chuckle while I get them out.
However, it can be a bit of an embarrassment when the man comes to read the gas and electricy meters!! redface
I have a little collection of really old saucy ones - quite a amusing and near the knuckle some of them lol
Where I work one of the artists who design the fancy loo's always puts a saucy lithograph of the old seaside postcards on the back where it can't be seen when installed. Its become his trademark now. I didn't even notice until I moved one and put it a little higher.
Seen some originals of Bery Cooks Kaz, she was a local here and held exhibitions regularly. Nice lady and great artist. I haven't seen her work on postcards though. Must look out for them
The commonly understood origin for the classic British saucy poastcards was a company called Bamforth, based in Holmfirth, West Yorks (land of Last of the Summer Wine).
They currently have a few displaying online, though you can buy more, at
Mind you there was more to Bamforth's than just the saucy postcards, as they made their name as a leading producer of Magic Lantern Slides, and obtaining the reputation of being the "British Hollywood" of Silent Films.
The saucy seaside postcards may have lost some favour these days but this type of humour will live on as long as a certain tabloid newspaper keeps it going. Whether its on a postcard or in a 'newspaper' the subject of sex and 'nudist colonies' Yuk!!!! and the mostly imaginery connection between the two will remain. We as naturists take pity have a giggle at the 'textiles' who think naturism, sex and orgies are all the same, likewise as swingers to the sex humour. Times have changed and they barely raise a titter any more but its still part of our history......no matter how small the part is Miss Prendergast!!!!!!!!!!!!
Smooth2
All this and more at the current 'Rude Britannia' exhibition at Tate Britain....
