nobody is indispensable. ....so we`re led to believe. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.....how big will the whole be though now?

One thing I learnt in the short timei've been here is that you would come back with a well thought out opinion - might have been bollox - but well thought and heartfelt nevertheless.

When Neil came to me lastnight to tell me he was leaving, I was gutted. We pmmed a few times while Neil convinced me of how badly he needed a deactivation, mainly for personal reasons.
This hasn't been easy for me and I'm still crying now because it hurt me so much to have to press the bluddy buttons. For the first time in two months, last night I wished I never had my Mods status.
But Neil is deactivated so please don't waste time sending him pms, he is unable to read them. If you want to talk to Neil then is the only way you will get a reply.

Jon, you've been around long enough to know that Neil was a massive contributor to the forum, as a result he became well known and liked.
Of 14170 registered users a very small percentage actually contribute to the boards let alone in the numbers that Neil did, therefore the hole left by him leaving is much greater than the 1 site registration he was.
I don't intend to shout you down or discount your opinion, but surely the comments from Neils friends and acquaintances here tell you something.

I'd like to point out to Jon-TJ that they won't gain many friends in here by carelessly stamping on already fragile emotions. I never met Neil personally but I did read some of his posts and he was........ sorry, IS......... a genuine guy who will be missed by many on this forum.
Things come and things go (including people) - 'tis the nature of the universe so cease and desist as it serves no purpose.

MOVING ON...........I`d like to say that I, for one, will NOT be saying farewell. I`m keeping in touch, and I`m sure Neil would like to keep in touch with the many other friends he has made here. His wit will be sorely missed here, and my inbox emptier, but the guy is still out there!
His reasons are valid, and I hope that these reasons can be resolved in favour of SH and we eventually see him back.
Until then, I hope he has a REALLY big e-mail inbox :mrgreen:

This has made me so, so sad!
Neil's posts were amusing, intelligent and sometimes soul-searching.
But always worthwhile to read.
He never sought to be the centre of attention but was a very much valued member of this community.
This is a sad loss to the forum membership.

I wonder how many people actually *read* Neils post - he does not want people whingeing about the fact he has left, he was not that sort of bloke. I'm sure he didn't want this post raised and comment made, which is why he asked for his own post to be locked before any replies to it could be made.

I have read Neils post - and yes whilst I do agree he did not want his leaving to be 'attention seeking', I was very saddened by the news of his leaving when I logged on today. So much so that I WANTED to post something of a farewell - and to do it publicly, because I will miss him.
I will be keeping in contact now that I know his email address.
