Anyone seen this ?
Thats an old one..
Been doing the rounds for a while now..
Yes....for at least a month.
Only, it seems to have reached over a half million signees without being noticed that much.
Call me a cynic, but I seem to remember a "few" people signed a petition against something or other a couple of years ago-why do I not think this will have any more notice taken of it rolleyes
In My Opinion
I signed the petition a few weeks back after I read about what they were proposing to do, absolutely barking mad if this legislation ever gets passed;
Where every car has to be fitted with a tracker and everyone pays by the mile;
So in addition to paying to use and maintain the roads with what they bring in with road tax and fuel taxes;
We pay by the mile;
Can be tracked wherever we go and probably have our speed checked as well.
This is frightening, Big Brother is watching you, way to scary :scared: one step to far.

Agreed- but don't you think that in the interests of fairness they'll scrap Road Tax so that we're not paying twice? :dry:
I've signed, but dont think for a minute It'll make a blind bit of difference.

se many many posts of mine relating to this subject that were laughed at ..... :hunk:
i so hate " I Told You So " :lol2:
Have I missed something here?
Surely the fairest way to tax road users is by a fuel tax. That way the people who do the most damage by driving the most pay the most tax. Probably not very popular, and I am a high mileage driver, but it does charge the people doing the most damage, and is much simpler than adding trackers, messing with car tax levels and so on.
I know if this comes in it will hit me hard in the pocket,as it is a 1hr or approx 40 mile journey for me just to get (one way)to our nearest fully functioning hospital! Other than a very small and expensive shop cum post office,primary school and a cpl of pubs,our village has no other ammenties. we have to travel a cpl of miles to get to the doctors and about 10 miles to get to nearest large supermarket and town i am now the head of a low income family i struggle financially to keep my car on the road as it is,but also liveing in a rural location denotes that a car is realy a esential in my paticular case. As it would be impracticle for me to take 3 of my kids and my dad who is in a wheel chair on the bus. The bus fares for a return to town would be upwards of £7 and thats just for me and the 3 kids.A taxi is £17 one way. I dont know how i would manage to get my food shopping for a wk home for a family of 8 either,i would be forced to use t**co online and that would push my bill up straight away.
But hey im sure the gov realy dont care about the hardships and misery they will cause to those that can least afford it,and those that dont have a cost effective or reliable regular public transport system to hand.
I realy cant wait till the kids have flown my nest and i can leave this country behind.
Nicky
We're in a similar situation hun- but you have a bus?????
:shock:
In best Monty Python tones- Luxury!
I my opinion.
The necessary trackers fitted to our cars will only be there so that our movements can be monitored. As it is Road Tax only exists so the government knows who owns which car.

Yes can see your point in my last house, we had to walk a mile down a muddy farm track to get to a road and flag down the rare passing buses,whilst putting our safety at risk evil
