Safecalls

Do you believe in safecalls when meeting a stranger for the first time? Do you tell someone that you are going out and give details or arrange a phonecall at an agreed time to let them know you are alright? Do you leave clues behind as to who you are meeting? Do you perhaps insist you get the person's full name before agreeing to meet and check them out? How would you check them out? Share your views!

I used to do the safe call thing when I lived on my own and often invited strangers round. I used to tell a friend the name of the guy I was meeting, and I used to ring him up after the guy had gone. He knew if he had not heard from me by the next day to come round and dig me up from under the patio wink

This has been asked before. I can understand you having questions Tania but do a search of the site; I for one find all the questions very unsettling.

Can I just point out that if I was a reporter looking at this site the last thing I would do is post loads of questions. I would do what you are suggesting and read through a load of the old posts and threads - there is a massive resource there for anyone interested including a lot of interesting and personal information. Can we please stop this constant paranoia about the press! We know they come on here looking but they are quite able to search the old threads or even read through one persons postings to do an article, giving every new person a hard time if they have some questions will not stop that.
BTW - to answer the question I would not arrange a safe call as such but as I am married Charlotte would know where I had gone and what I was doing so there would be no need, the same applies when she goes out on her own. I can certainly understand the logic though if someone lives alone and is going on meets.

For me h/w always know where i am, but really if whoever your intending to meet, dosnt feel right on here, then dont meet them, its as simple as that!!

Fair enough I stand corrected on that BE, but I think there will be others who are equally nervous about people coming in and constantly askling questions or running polls. Particularly in light of recent events with Libra.

I'm sorry but I think this is a very different issue, the recent events with Libra had nothing to do with a newbie asking questions. Someone who she knew and trusted passed on her details, I would guess someone she has met and probably someone who is known on here.
The information that someone gets from asking public questions can only ever be as much as you wish to give out, if you choose not to answer they learn nothing about you.

Hi guys
Thanks for your participation to the poll and answers. I was going out on a date tonight and I had been thinking how much I am exposing myself. In particular I was thinking of the guy who specifically preyed on pregnant women and killed them. Don't know if he's been caught or not as I do not watch the news often. But one thing that has surprised me is how many men focus on the pregnant bit of my ad. I was just wondering, what if one of them is the one (the killer) - that's all. Anyway the date was a complete waste of time so I came home early to the safety of my laptop hoping to find something to keep my mind occupied till sleep claims my body... it was great to see people view me with mistrust, very encouraging, especially after a crap evening out. :cry: Anyway, I will put Frecklebird's advice to action: I will search the internet; only it will be for other swinging forums where perhaps people are more relaxed and open-hearted.

Tania I don't think there is one more relaxed and open than this one and please forgive me for being suspicious. It's just me (or anyone else who will say it on here) being twitchy about questions. You don't need to constantly ask questions to find out how all this works. Just join in, look around, enjoy it all. And don't leave 'cos of me, because there are bucket loads of lovely people on here who won't agree with anything I've said and call me a mardy arse. rolleyes

My ads were there last time I checked, don't know why the links don't work now and instead of taking you to the advert they take you to the main screen. I sure have not changed anything on my computer. Perhaps a mod has changed settings? Though I don't know why they'd do that. Mystery!

Hun a lot of guys go for pregnant women on the old adage " nothing to lose, evertything to gain"
and to be honest, a womans body never glows as well as it does when she is pregnant. Perhaps glows is not the best term here but I am afraid another word just eludes me at the moment

My ads were banned. I had placed an ad in the Holidays section that was not deemed appropriate and along with it the mods deleted my main ad which was totally irrelevant but who am I to argue with them. Hope this puts your mind at ease smile

No, your ads were deleted and YOU got banned. Slight difference.
Once you agree to abide by site AUP then there should be no problem in unbanning you. The offending ad will not be alllowed to be put back in though. As the email you got said we're not here to find roomates for you.
