happy st David's day you lot ( where's my Dafadil ) lol :wink:
Happy St David's day from me as well
Well my litle one has been excited all week. She can't wait for me to pin the daffodil on her and take her to school.
Kids get very excited.
For me.......It just makes me proud to be Welsh on our saints day, Dewi Sant.
Dave_Notts
Dafodils if you were a girl and Leeks if you were a boy... then spend all day in school eating your leek... and there weren't any competitions about the size of your leek either... :giggle:
anyway everyone please be upstanding to sing....
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Dros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.
Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.
Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi.
Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad tan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.
Land of my fathers..........i havent seen that in writing for 38 ish yrs
It was a special day in school, those of us who had costume wore it, a shawl and hat usually, we sang songs which i still vaguely remember and learned about our herritage
Social values were so different then, yes we had the cane and humilliation too but the naughtiness we had wasnt malicious, we didnt steal, damage or injur like so called kids do today.
We had a future to look forward to and we were naieve in many things.
Now the kids have had and done it all........stolen the car and joy ridden it and burned it out, done a happy slapping attack and filmed it for fun, done the drugs and drink, had the sex, got the ASBO, swore and spat at a copper, stuck two fingers up to the judicery, ......with impunity ............all by the time they are 12 or 13, so what the hell do they then have to look forward to in life.
Kids and intelligent animals need structure, they need rules, boundaries, tasks and rewards, discipline and fun. Without these, life is lawless, hopeless worthless
It doesnt take a PHd in socioligy, psychology or any other science to see this, its what we used to call common sense, but alas its a very UN common sense to our politicians.
Whats the answer? Whatever it is, you cant adopt it cos it breaches EU human rights legislation

what are welsh cakes?

They're flat scone-like cakes that are baked on a griddle or baking stone. Can be eaten on their own or spread with butter and are fab with a cuppa wink
Ingredients:
* 5 oz Wholemeal self-raising flour
* 3 oz white self-raising flour
* 3 oz caster sugar
* 4 oz butter
* 3 oz currants
* 1 teaspoon of mixed spices
* 1 large egg
Method:
* Mix both flours with the mixed spices.
* Rub the butter and the sugar together into the flour mixture.
* Add the currants and egg and then mix everything together until it's a light dough.
* Roll the dough half an inch thick, then cut with a 2" diameter cutter.
* Fry four minutes each side on an oiled griddle over a slow heat.
* Before serving, sprinkle with white sugar and eat them straight away.
