I had intended going into stealth mode and leopard-crawling past my 3000th post and not do anything to draw attention to it, but alas Alex-Hawk Eye-andra spotted me and let the cat out of the bag. I now feel obliged to sit down and type some wonderful commemorative post, which in my hungover state is not top of my "thing I want to do" list, but here goes.
When I first popped onto this site I found a little community where everyone had the ability to make me laugh or cry and after the initial attempts to join in I found a sense of belonging. There were people that I admired for the way they could always find the right words at the right time, whether that was to write something funny or something serious. Most of them have either left or just visit us from time to time. I wasn't going to name names, but sod it!! Fred and Wilma Flintstone, Kit and Kat, Sappho and Will were all mentors for me. I have mentioned before that I used to rush home from work to log on here and would feel like I was opening a present, keenly anticipating the gems I would find inside.
The site and in particularly The Café have moved on from then, more than doubling in size. It has got to the stage now where if I have been working for 12 hours it is almost impossible to catch up with every post. I once started a thread entitled You B*stards . I never revealed what the problem was, but I can now tell you it was because there had been so many new posts added to the Café that night, whilst I was working, that I had to sit there for hours trying to catch up, not wanting to miss a single post. Nowadays, it just isn't possible to do that.
As I said, things have moved on and there are now a whole bunch of people that make me laugh. None more so than Davej - I just love the way his mind works!!
Then there are the usual suspects - Neil, Easy, Warwick, Mr FC, WBB
I would also like to mention the Mods, and the unseen work that goes on behind the scenes here. Every Mod is passionate about this site and we have lengthy, and sometimes heated debates about what is and isn't allowed on here. People post things here that I despise but I would fight for their rights to post it and air their views. All the Mods here are mindful of your right to free speech, even if they completely disagree with what you are saying. I can't even begin to explain how much time and dedication they spend keeping his place running as smoothly as it does, so please bear that in mind when we do something you don't agree with.
Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to the boss, Mark. Without him this place just wouldn't exist. :P :P :P
