with the advent of all this modern technology, people forget/dont bother using the skills that serve them better in the advent of the technology failure.
Worked with a reeally old anaesthetist who hated the new all singing, all dancing patient monitors with a passion, and refused to use them.
he would rant on about the doctors of today relying to heavily on monitors and not trusting their own eyes, ears and common sense.
"ODA Bonedigger" He would say "If I cannot tell the state of a patient with my own eyes and my own good judgement, I have no business being an anaesthetist"
Our Satnav broke down the morning after a munch in the midlands. Had to remember our way back.
Used maps ever since.
.
Well I love my SatNav.
As 99% of my driving is done alone, and in towns, it would be much harder trying to find addresses the old way.
It gives me the confidence drive to new places which I do most days, lets me concentrate on the road, other traffic, tells me quite accurately how far I am away from an address - and my ETA... I couldn't manage without mine.
I was at a munch in Manchester, when my passenger said "these satnavs, how do they know where we are?"
Bless
i only put 95% trust in my sat nav,ie/ plan route first to make sure she's sending me the right way, my worry is with all this new technology how long will it be before they use our sat navs to monitor us for speeding over a distance?
Mine took me down a mud path in the New Forest and I came a cropper.
