Scam Warning

It has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel
Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and
that you need to contact them on
0906 xxxxxxx (a premium rate number).
DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud number on Royal Mail Website or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at

Please circulate this to avoid anyone else being ripped off.

although well intentioned this is a fake warning.
there is no such thing as an 0906 number that costs to call. This is the stuff that urban legends are made of.

0906 Premium Rate Numbers (Marketing Numbers)
"0906 premium rate numbers..."
Premium rate numbers are numbers that begin with 0906. They can be used to raise revenue from callers telephoning your 0906 number. You can set the amount to charge the caller from per minute to per minute. Charging callers to call your premium rate number allows you to sell services via the telephone. Your charge to the caller is collected via their telephone bill and passed over to us, we in turn pass a large share of this money raised to you in the form of call revenue each month.
I suppose it would all depend on how long the call is and how gullible people can be sometimes as to what the eventual cost of the call is.
Anyway, wether this scam is to be believed or not I dont see any harm in making people aware.

I don't mind this sort of info as at least it keeps me aware whether its false or not takes seconds to read and you never know ....
