The thought of having to watch anything with Jennifer Aniston in it scares the hell out of me :scared:
I cant watch scary movies, goes back to when I was about 10 and my friend at school put on Halloween and it scared me to much I havent been able to watch any since. Even adverts on tv for scary movies make me hide behind pillows.
The original Texas Chainsaw massacre isnt so much scary just very chilling. I am hard to scare I am a horror film veteran been watching since way before I should have so am pretty hardened.
When I was a kid Saloms lot scared the hell out of me :scared: Due to the scene with vampires floating by windows and tapping I slept with the curtains closed for years on end.
Last house on the left also is pretty chilling stuff.

So what is the best scary movie?
The exorcist is gd,and potergiest scared the hell out of me as a kid,
but my vote has to go to Ringu the japanese origional of the ring
what had u hiding behind your hands?

Thank you worship
I'm usually bored to tears by Horror/Scary Movies, but that one scares the feck out of me. :scared:
Mind you, the Japanese are masters at this kind of film.
*huffs and wishes she could find a film to be scared by*
You have to remember the year that the Exorcist was released...I think it was 1974. That is 35 years ago and it for me is still one of the most horrific films.
The whole film from start to finish had people on the edge of their seats.
Yes there are other films that are more blood and gore but the Exorcist is as scary today as it was back then.....brilliant.
I love scary movies .... most recent one to scare the shit out of me has to be Rec
I think Halloween has to be my fave scary film, i`ve always thought it to be classic.
IT by Steve King terrified me as i have a fear of clowns that i had way before i read the book and saw the film, the film wasnt as good as my imagination made the book tho, the imagination is a very powerful thing
The film that gave me nightmares when i was younger was The Hunchback of Notre Dame the original black and white one with Charles Laughton, i still cant watch it now :scared:

I may have mentioned before that after watching Ringu ,alone in a very simular appartment to the one in the film i was so scared i had to phone a fb to come over with ice cream,ii was too scared to go for a wee! lol

It's the only film I've ever seen that has made me jump at every noise heard or otherwise (House creaks etc) after watching it
I've only seen it once, and I'm not sure I will get it on DVD
:scared:

Salom's Lot... yes yes! I'm glad you mentioned that.
As a made for TV thingie I thought it was excellant... even with David Soul, and he wasn't even the scariest thing in it!!!
(vry tru to the King book too)
Aside: with the King-stuff being mentioned, he also wrote a short story with a Salom's Lot link... it was telling the story in the form of a written corespondence between two fellas back in the 1800's, and the strange goings on in that area. Very good.

i actually couldn't stop laughing throughout it but then i haven't yet found a film that actually scares me :scared:

Alien was scary, not so much the gore, but the tension.
I don't do scary films though. I'm pathetic, I have to watch them on fast forward so the bits that make you jump, don't.
However for sheer horror, the film Ratrace is hard to beat. Have you seen it? It's so bad you'll wish you were having an enema and root canal surgery at the same time, only with the equipment at the opposite ends.
I love zombie movies and my all time favourite is Return of the Living Dead, but it isn't scary.
The first Evil Dead terrified me at the time, but I have it and i really has not dated well. I have yet to see Drag Me To Hell.
The last film that genuinely scared me would be... crikey. Probably Hellraiser. I overdosed on splatter movies in the 80's so nothing shocks me any more. I don't like these new torture porn films at all, though - but I'll admit Saw 1 and 2 were quite clever.
As for recent(ish) films, I did love Let the Right One In
The last thing I read that creeped me out and gave me nightmares was 'Cradlegrave' by John Smith in 2000AD earlier this year - it would not work as anything other than a comic strip, however. The story is slight but the tension is awesomely done - when the graphic novel gets released order it from the library and you'll see...
The Great Escape
now that was scary
especially the bit when Steve Mc queen jumped the wire on the motor bike and didnt make it, gets me every time lol

think i might have same prob watched so many 80's horrors maybe i'm desensitised to them
actually loved the saw films they made me go funny watching them they r very good but not scary i think its the imagining yourself in that position that makes them so good ie: could i jump into that pit of hyperdermics
i think the reason i don't find films scary is because it is just a film i find reality much more scary
maybe i'm looking at this the wrong way i love a film that makes me jump and puts me on the edge of my seat but i don't see that as scary just entertainment now i'm worried that makes me odd lol
I remember watching Nightmare on Elm Street when I was about 13. It scared the shit out of me.
Mr Fun said the same thing so when we seen it on sale we had to buy it.
When we watched it we laughed the whole way through!!!!
