Having just got a temp job for the NHS, we were moving offices yesterday and today and I managed to blag a free deskjet printer which I took home with me yesterday.
Unfortunately, when i got home I discovered that the ink from the cartridges had leaked all over the bottom of the plastic bags they were in, all over my jeans, bedclothes, hands and carpet.
The jeans, bedclothes and hands are all clean, however the carpet still has considerably large spots of ink which I can't shift. I tried blotting and stain remover to not much avail. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get rid of it?
(It's been there almost 24 hours now, plus it's rented and the landlord's looking to sell :uhohsmile
Vanish Carpet mousse :P greatest thing ever invented .....nuff said lol
This may sound weird....
But try spraying 'Hair Spray' onto the ink .... and then soak with water...
Always worked on my shirts...lol
lol
Oxi-Clean always works for me...
Follow this easy 7-step guide to hiding stubborn stains:
1). Move the wardrobe out of the way (or any other large piece of furniture you have in the room)
2). Cut a square in the carpet the same size as the stained part of the carpet.
3). Replace the furniture in it's original position.
4). Leave the 'new' piece of carpet in direct sunlight until it has faded to the same match as the rest of the carpet.
5). Glue the 'new' piece into place (don't forget to match the pattern if any)
6). Move out pronto!!!
7). Don't ask me if I have any room at my place, homewrecker. lol
Sorry I have nothing to help you with, especially as you've been so helpful to me in the past.
I don't really do household stuff, but using Vanish sounds spot on.
erm............now when the landlord comes to check everythings in order for you to recieve your deposit back put a box over it..........then when u walk n say oh...must of forgot that box then just before ur about to leave say "i forgot that box hang on" run in get it then take your deposit and run!!!!!
it wont work but its a good idea i suppose!!! confused
Semi-Urgent help needed?
I read that all wrong. I thought you couldn't quite get it all the way hard, but needed to in a hurry!
I was gonna say that Debs could probably help with that!!!
Other than that, nothing to add to help. Sorry.

i agree as it works wonders on my carpet with SLIGHT OIL patches and stuff from my job redface cool
if ALL else has failed... wet the inky area with a LIGHT solvent based liquid to break down the inks, lightly cover with flour (amaizingly absorbant- great for cleaning up cooking oil as well). cover over with a moistened tea towel and they iron it. should bring out the majority of the ink into the flour which can be hoovered up. now you just have to get rid of the solvent smell (good carpet shampoo). try the others first though cos if you get it wrong your carpets F***ed (well, more than it is now)
or go find a carpet auction
