Sex at the office
Well, I had an intimate relationship with a lovely guy at work.
When it finished, by mutual agreement, we carried on going about our daily work. It was, actually very nice being closer friends than with other colleagues, and it didn't affect our work at all.
However... I had, years before been involved with someone else at work (same place :shock: ) He was very hurt when it finished, and although we both carried out our work, there was a lot of tension when we were in the same room.

Going to have to disagree with splendid!!
Surely just beacause you have shagged someone doesn't mean you cant continue to have a professional relationship with them.
I'm sure there must be loads of people out there who have had sex with a colleague thats working relationship is completely unaffected by it.
I certainly have, on other occaisions it has been a problem. Just depends on the situation.
I particularly would have thought it would apply if the people involved viewed sex more recreationally than emotionally?

The risk factor is surely exacerbated in having sex within the working relationship. I suppose really it is how you are prepared to take risks with your livelihood. How does one know if things are going to be ok if your shagging one of your work peers? At least if your not shagging them you dont have that worry.
I do agree with mazendden as regards that sex should be considered more as recreational than emotional :thumbup: Society is not far enough along that road yet i dont think. Though we do need pioneers maybe to light the way, as we do in all things.:smile: i think i'd not like to be one of the first though. Safety in mediocrity i suppose

Thanks all for your contributions - some very sound arguements, both for and against. I think women tend to be more mature about the after effects than men. On the two occassions it happened to me, it was bad after, but that was down to me - I was less mature then and have regrets about the way I behaved now - but as always with things in life, you can do little about something once you've done it!

the only time anything close to this has ever happened to be was from a guy on the floor below me. I work in a place with two different companies based in the same building, us on the top floor, the others below us.
Anyway, met this bloke from the floor below me during fag breaks, got chatting to him and stuff whenever our cig breaks clashed.
We seemed to get on pretty well and everything, and me being totally niave and what have you agreed to go for a pint with him one night..So we went for a pint one night, then another night and other night, until it turns he's gay and fancies me something rotten.
Nothing wrong with that of course, I just have to say politely 'no, sorry mate, not my milk 'n' two sugars', but let's still be mates.
We tried that, but now it's just gotten all awkward. I'm always polite when I see the guy and say 'hi' and what have you, but he seems to avoid me like the plague :shock:

Is it any different to having to work with someone that you think is an absolute prick??

Most of those relationships worked for me quite well. That's because they were not based on abuse of power or authority, but on simply finding that we needed each other and it went beyond the job. I suppose I was lucky on the whole, as events worked out conveniently in that we parted either through opportunities or events outside our little world.
However when it did go wrong, it was the dreadful feeling which kept coming back oevr and over, that was the worst aspect. It can turn into a ghastly cold survival. Then you realise that you are both desperate for this crumby job and its just a matter of time before one of you packs it in and leaves. And its no victory, just a big defeat all round.
But its spicy stuff whwen you start, al those secrets and arrangements. Great buzzing stufff, because it inevitakly involves cheating and adultery etc.
But I have not regretted those affairs.
