SH Golf Society :-)

It would appear that there is an awful lot of golfers kicking about SH and i've lost count of the amount of times someone has said "we'll have to have a game" and then nothing else is said.....
So, who would be interested in a kind of golf society?
Nothing majorly serious, maybe just a mailing list or a word .doc with people who fancy a game's name, location and mail addy or phone number on....then if anytime you find yourself at a loose end for a golf partner (like i am while my usual golf buddy is on holiday) away you go with the list, find some people near you and mail to your hearts content!
Could also maybe do a social event once a year where the blokes play golf (and the ladies if any play) while the ladies go shopping or do their nails or whatever it is our partners do lol
If anyone fancies it, leave a reply here and if we get enough interest i'll knock a contact list up etc
Cheers

Aint this just like a golfer !! I swear one day we'll be fucking knee deep in pussy and dick at a party and hear some geek talking about backswing ...........SURELY there are already the odd golf society about you could use for what you describe mate :-) I mean our local pubs are lousy with the bloody things , you can spot them by the bad jumpers and lack of conversation.

But I don't play golf

Golf, sorry, I will meet you at the 19th.
Well I think it is an excellent idea.
I get invited to quite a few golf society days ( this is the male part of us talking now ) but have to decline the vast majority as they are during the week when I am working. I also get numerous email adverts offering very cheap rounds of golf combined with first rate hotels in some excellent locations but unfortunately my partner does not play so that is a no no.
If we were going away for the weekend to meet a few more couples for the weekend for some golf, shopping, pampering, good company and then perhaps a little fun later on then we would definitely be interested.
Hope we can get a few people on board with this, it could be fun !!!
Golf is like watching paint dry! ( sorry Choon rolleyes )
I spent 5 years selling golf equipment, had everyone thinking I played off scratch when in fact I couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo! confused
christ alive! having endured Mr C's numerous golfing conversations in the chatroom I now have to see it all on the forum as well!
Go on you lot - go play golf and leave us to the more important issues like finger knitting and the tea vs coffee debate.
Surely it would be cheaper to walk around your local park with a rucksack full of rocks randomly throwing golf balls at passing members of the public and the end result would be the same dunno

Yer dead right - it's a stupid game as I've said on many occasions. Spoken as someone who has cracked the game six times already!! banghead

I'm sure one of your intelligence would've realised, after no more than 6 months, that you don't play golf with a banjo  and the joke about the cow's arse is really just a joke. (If anyone wants to hear it I'll tell ya at the next munch/social)
.
I've always fancied learning it. If this goes ahead, and if anyone doesn't mind helping me get into the "swing" of things - double joke, geddit? lol count me in!

Hi all
As usual the world is very divided about golf with a "love it or hate it" situation but definitely no middle ground.
I was very much in the "hate it" camp until two years ago when a few friends dragged me kicking and screaming on to a golf course where I found that 30 years of playing squash helped me become half decent and I became evangelical about the game. Four hours of steady excercise, great banter and camaraderie and getting away from desks and mobile phones can't be all that bad.
"A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work !!"
To all non believers I just ask you to try it. If you hate it fair enough but I think a good percentage will change their mind about the game after 4 hours of walking around some of the best countryside they will have ever seen.
Hope we can manage to get a decent number involved but a nice Saturday afternoon four ball whilst our partners go out shopping for some special clothes for later on that night would be fine. Lets try to make it happen.
I'm with you bibabe!
It's not as bad as you think
My dad tried for years to get me to play to no avail, until one day, pissed at a party, we went out for a few holes, and I loved it!
I've had a few lessons since then, but I've never played a full game, i much prefer the driving range...
Still think I would get bored after 5 holes never mind 18, but I'm coming around to the idea....
M xx
Plus, i'm better than den, but don't tell him i said that! lol

Depends how you jugdge GOLFERS lol I have a set of clubs and was once known to practice and play on non member courses. However I havent hit a ball in maybe .. oOOooOOOhhh it may be 17 years (fuck me I must be geting old). We could be up for it though if you are willing for me to five put the greens and take 5 getting there  All depends when location etc.
I only starting playing two years ago and struggle to get round in under 100 so I am no superstar myself so I wouldn't worry too much about the standard as we could match up everyone in fourballs etc with similar stds etc.
if you score using stapleford then everyone gets a fair chance of winning.
What are the prizes going to be I wonder.........

If we score using stableford then everyone needs to know their handicap....and for those that dont we're gonna have golf days full of bandits abusing the system! lol
I play off 21 at the moment
Just trying to keep this near the top to keep the momentum going as I am sure there must be 100's of golfers on the site who would love to combine a weekend of golf with a weekend of other more sensual activities but they might not check out the forum much.
