Not mentioning no names here......she will know who she is, but i wud like to say that she a very brave lady
yesterday a friend of mine went to her nans house like she normally does to make sure shes ok and when she opened the door she was greeted by 2 strangers in there. They had come under the pretence that they were from the water board and her nan had let them in.
thank god for my friend, as they did not get anything and did not harm her nan in anyway.
wot gives people the right to do this sort of thing??? arse holes in everyway!!!!!
but to my friend-i am so proud of u for standing up to them and i am proud to call u my friend
love u loads

im so glad no one was hurt.
people who pray on the elderly are cowards.
your friend was very brave to stand up to them.
she should be proud of her self.

It's a sad reminder of the times we now live in, a kind of dog eat dog for some folk, but glad to see there are still some caring people about ready to save the day.
It must be the time of year for it as something similar just happened on Monday near where I live.
An elderly lady living on her own and very dependant on others was so close to being robbed. She is part of one of those "neighbourhood/community care" schemes, you know the ones run by an organisation who monitor the frail and elderly with an intercom and red pull cord triangles in all rooms in the house.
She had managed to pull one of the triangles to summon help, and the controller asked if everything was ok with her.
A mans voice had replied that it was fine, she was just in the toilet and had pulled it thinking it was the light switch by mistake and apologised for wasting their time.
It was actually a genuine call for help and she was being robbed by two guys and it was one of them who pretended to be a relative and told them she was OK.
She wasn't hurt and they scarpered with just some cash and a couple of pieces of jewellry - could have been much worse. Broad daylight too !
Is there anything more you can do to help you ask yourself and could it be avoided in the future ?
Certainly don't think council cutbacks and closing care homes in the county aren't going to help.
Is this not a good arguement for the council who want to close these homes and send elderly folk back into their own homes !
Well, that's my babble on for thursday am, but it's something close to my heart.
Thanks for putting up wih this one.
Glad all was ok ............................but catch the gits and put them in the chat room lets sort them out in there.
so glad all is ok. It's sad that part of society has come to this -robbing the elderly- but its true. need to invent a Jame Bond walking stick to duel or smackbottom if anyone tries to break in
Well done you whoever you are lol
I've been looking at this post for the last hour, trying to work out what to say. Words for once, are difficult to find, but here goes.......
When you've known somebody for 23 years, and been married for 16 of them, you think that you know them pretty well.
But it takes an incident like this where some scum of the earth think that they can take advantage of a pensioner, for your wife to amaze and astound you as to their bravery and quick thinking.
A very dangerous situation, that thankfully ended safely.

i will not repeat what i have said in previous posts, apart from to say tha i am a devotee, and active member, of th esociety (mods please note that i have not mentioned th ename) that advicates a change in the law, stating a new law that should read thus :
Any person discovered in another persons home, without invite or reason, being there for purposes that can be shown to be in contravention of the law, no longer are afforded the protection of said law, and therefore, "are on thier feckin own"

would you like to borrow one of my 12 bores? innocent
Pauls Gran had something like that happen to he,r two youths just walked into her home and robbed her right under her nose, she was in her 90s and unable to walk so just had to sit there helpless while they trashed the place and took everything of value, lucky they had no interst in harming her as she just sat there watching which is a small mercy i guess, such people are scum praying on helpless old people mad
I get so annoyed when I hear about shitebags like these. A few years ago my Dad was admitted to a hospice and while my mum was with him, some drugged up shitbag broke in and stole all her jewellery, stuff that she'd collected in 50 years of marriage. Sadly my Dad passed away 2 weeks later without ever knowing about the robbery. It was the only secret she ever kept from him. I would have gladly broken this guys legs for the pain he caused her. mad
Beleave it or not i'm a timid chap when it comes to standing up to people so my hat go's off to you for dealing with a situation where i'd just go to pieces. kiss
