Some light reading for a Saturday morning. I've tried Google and the Butler bloke, but to no avail. So I turn, as usual to the cleverer people we have here. I'm not sure I'll find the answer here, but somebody might be able to point me in the right direction to find the answer. Has anyone heard of the phenomenon that I know only as "death sex" , "war sex" "trench sex" A burning desire to have sex immediately following a real or believable traumatic experience where there was a very real possibility of death, such as surviving a fire fight ? I know its something along the lines of the euphoria of such a survival, coupled with man's desire to reproduce. The first I ever heard of it was explained to me as something from the first world war trenches, although apparently it has existed since man.
Man like sex and have desire to reproduce? First I've heard mate. Yeah I've heard and even read about it but I can't seem to put my finger on where though.
There is a very good example of this in the novel by David Lodge "Small World" (1985). I can't remember the details sufficiently well to recount them here right now. Mike.

What a strange film that was. I am rather fond of the film 'Crash' (the one made several years ago and not the more recent one of the same name!!) However, I suggest you read the original novel, by JG Ballad, I read it when I was 15....not sure what it did to me!!! :shock:

i always thought this was to do with the adrenaline rush that you get from such things as war or even extreem sports,being involved in an accident or being tied up & helpless it all gets the adrenaline pumping which stimulates the desire to have sex so i could see where the desire to have sex after a fire fight comes from as for a web site sorry i did look but couldnt find anything

I guess it's a combination between the "thank god i'm still alive, lets screw something" reaction, the doomsday reaction (nothing left to worry about) and the 40% adrenaline in your blood.
It ia well documentated that couple muderers will imediately have sex after a murder. This drives them on to doing the next crime as the buzz is supposed to be so good. Many coulpes have been tracked that way and convicted on the evidence left behind... :shock:
