I'm prepared to be flamed for asking this but if you don't ask, you don't get and this IS the Cafe biggrin ...
Anyone know where I can go to get a bit of wood cut to a specific size?
Basically, I need to get a couple pieces of 'backing board' (the type you get at the back of cupboards and things) to repair some damage under the kitchen sink. I need one piece cut to 54cm x 57cm and another piece cut to 54cm x 18cms. I know I can get huge sheets of the stuff from B&Q but I need them pre-sized since I don't have the powertools to do it myself redface
most of the large diy chains should have the cut equipment to do this for you but they will charge you 50p a cut.
God i'm sad!
I'm glad to see SH has been a good place to get a reply to your question, in spite of thepower tools on this site being of a different type... lol
Mike.
Failing that... most guys usualy need very little excuse to go buy powertools
e.g. hmm that picture hook needs screwing to the wall.... its about time I got me a new hammerdrill and electric screwdriver.
A woman would probably just get a nail and a hammer.
Incidentaly a suitable cutting implement of the powered variety would cost about £15 for a cheepo these days.... hand tool would be a couple quid.... then you could cut as much wood as you like!
B and Q warehouses will cut it to size 3 free cuts and 50p there after per cut... Hardboard is what ya need... Or vey thin MDF.. ergh hate the stuff but does a good job
Now im even sadder lol
lol     Nice

I need a lot of hands to count how many girls do use a shoe as a hammer and a knife for everything else.... hardly any wonder the heel comes off in drain covers
how do you know how many cuts it will be???? does that not depend on how long the scissor blade is??? confused
any good timber yard will cut you board to size , but they charge
Thanks everyone - didn't realise likes of B&Q did a cutting service - will pay them a visit smile
Now, about the bit of plumbing I need doing ... :lol2:
Been sat here practising my "how much wood could a woodcut cut if a woodcut could cut wood!!!
And the threads about wood cutting in general
(wonder if Neil minds me borrowing his strop in his absence????)
Ain't NOBODY in here cuttin' MY wood....!!!
