Of course being as clean and nicely groomed as possible the rest is mere its good to look smart or look bobby dazzling even - but its the person that matters - is THE PERSON the person for you,and are you for them?

: :shock: )I'd say I'm with the majority on this 50/50 seems fair for a first meet. Taking into account the total cost of meet and roughly paying 1/2 each seems appropriate. Things change as a reletionship develops of course.
For example if I decide to treat myself to a night of 5star luxury which I do from time to time - I wouldn't expect someone to pay 1/2 of the cost of that. But I'd be happy for them to pay for the next meet which might be at the travel lodge.
I buy the most riduculously expensive underwear. I'd never ever expect anyone to appreciate it as much as I do - or even to notice it really.

damn now i know! all that expense! so i don't need to buy something to wear, or have a haircut, or cut my toenails, or buy nail files for me finger nails ((( i'm reliably informed long nails are a no no! ;) ))) or do me laundry, or have a shave ((( in several places, requiring mach 3's or veet! ))) and a shower, and moisturise, and deodorise, and buy hair wax and a national express / train ticket before i even get to the meet? phew! suddenly it all looks a damn sight cheaper! woo hoo! ;)
i prefer to pay, cos it's how i was brought up, but on occasion, the woman's paid for the hotel, and i've been very grateful. usually we kind of meet half way thank god, or it would be just impossible. it's cost me £100 quid for a brief weekend in manchester before now, without a hotel to pay for, which is no small sum to me. it means spending a fortnight coppering up! but the cash meant nothing, and i was bloody glad to have the opportunity of that expense, but swinging is surely a 2 way street?
i'm more than happy to pay, but i'd find the whole idea that i was somehow expected to pay for everything akin to . . .

I think the wrapping is half the present, it shows the care and attention you are or not prepared to make. Just like setting the dinning table out with decent cutlery rather than eating off ones kap.
As for needing a man to "give " me quality , i dont , hence i dont need to buy cheap tat and try to fool myself and others that that is what i want. neither do i have anything to prove. however i do, most of the time , prefer to shag someone i feel comfotable with and have something in common.
I rather thimnk your the first on this thread to mention the words bank balancem for me quality isnt always linked to bank balances which are of no interest. if you understoood finance you would know that bank balancs are nto the best place to keep money

If you have such a heavy cost in preparation for a meet, wouldn't you expect the guy to offer the very same thing????...

I think the discusssion came about after "a member" (nameless so ya can't say I'm picking anyone out
) suggested that as the cost of underwear, hairdo's etc was so high for the ladies arranging a meet, then maybe the guy should pay for all the rest :dunno: or something along those lines It would seem however, that most of us would rather go 50/50 when arranging a hotel meet, since having everything paid for by the guy would seem to us to be going along with the *bought and paid for* syndrome :shock:

Actually of the few people I've met from here..one had a rather amazing coat on..another looked rather sophisticated,true ..may I add I didn't wear £4 ASDA jeans on any of these occasions but always check that we were going to be casuallly dressed not in dinner jacket and tie(her) and designer label dress(me)
Seriously,anyone I've met I felt quite amazed to be in their actual presence at last and so enjoyed meeting them face to face at last - and I hope they enjoyed it else matters than that really..
