I am probably not the first person who should reply, as we've never met, but for wha tit's worth, here's what I think...
You're entitled to be as fussy as you want - you know what you want and what you expect another person to be like, and I wouldn't expect any less.
A name's a name. For myself, the real P & B are people I'd not want to know. But a nickname, for heaven's sake, how could I or why would I judge you on that? Who knows what you think of mine!
You don't come across as pretentious to me, not at all. I've read some posts by you, sometimes I broadly agree, sometimes I broadly don't - that's pretty normal I think.
If you want to change your name, it's up to you, but I'd be surprised if it made much difference to your experience. One thing people have to accept is that you are you, you know what you want, and if they're not it, well, that's all there is to it!
Just be reassured that from this relative newbie's point of view, you come across fine as you are.

Why don't you paint the tail of Posh like British Airways did - (I guess you won't be spending too much money) then NO one will be able to recognise you good folks *grin*
Then you will have to do a mass-market campaign to tell everyone (ok - the people you know) on the board "who you were before" and "who you are now"...
...and going by what happened to BA, - you will revert back to PoshnBecks and along the way would have lost lots of people who read / lookout for you posts.
In a nutshell - keep your name.
I'd say keep it. It's obviously tongue in cheek and as original as any. Does anyone really think you are the celebrities or multimillionaires and who cares if you were - you are who you are and, from other peeps perspective, the people portrayed in your SH posts and the impressions you create when you meet people, not yourname!
I for one get a genuine good vibe from you - and you had the humility to even question your name - so until proved otherwise you're both cool with me and you can use any name you like!!
