If you got to a party, club, social, etc and meet someone there who you never arranged to meet, can you come home afterwards and do a meet rep thingy or can you only do it for pre-arranged meets??

oooh planning on doing some shrepping after the wales camping lol
(that said shrepping and not sheeping if anyone misreads :giggle: )
errrrmmmm .... possibly, so be nice!!
we're always nice... but will have to make sure we are extra well behaved then...
bolt
Now I never said anything about being well behaved!! lol

No, the meet rep can only be used for meets arranged through Shrep, the aim was to minimise random comments.
Like any system there will be issues, but people should bear in mind that the way that the reputation works could very easily backfire on someone leaving a malicious neg comment, if they're lying they could stick out like a sore thumb, it could even help to distinguish between the genuine people and the fakers/timewasters.
Time will tell, we will fix the bugs, try to make it a bit easier to use and fine tune.

I hope this isn't a serious question, however I'll still give an answer. Using Shrep does not come under any scrutiny of the rules, it will be the only section of the site where users can (finally some may say) provide feedback of a meeting.

Why shouldn't it be a serious question, it is actually a good is it a case of no dissention among the ranks?
Although having looked at the screen shots on the pdf, there are a couple of shots that show negative feedback has been left, but if you look at the numbers section, which shows how much negative feedback has been left, the numbers are zero.
So seeing as single men can't read, does this mean that negative feedback will not apply to them, seeing as they won't be reading the comments?
Call it dissention, but to us its all feedback, like any system it will need time to evolve and rules may need to be re-written for this area with common sense taking the leading role.
and single men get treated the same way as anyone else with this system.
i went to have a look at it but it said i had to "enable" it however if i do that just to look at it, will i then be able to turn it off or will it have to stay on my profile forever ?

Nope... you can enable it to look and then turn it off again.
Tried and tested! wink

A bit like this post then ;)

You might find your answer there
Yeah i spotted it about ten seconds after posting
DOH !!!!
Have read it now cheers !!!
Must spend more time looking for answers and less time asking questions .............
He he - I've read the instructions twice and been vouched for and I still don't understand it. I'm thick when it comes to techy things and I have no patience. People could be saying allsorts of Shrep about me and I'd have no idea.... wink
well i hoped this would explain it to me now i'm more confused than ever :silly:
Bouncy
Working on it, as you will have read.
Seems several things from the newsletter/.pdf document were changed before it went live, so not al the pictures actually match what we are seeing on-screen.
Also some of the back ground 'computery' techie things have also had to be changed/improved since yesterday afternoon as several issues have been spotted/reported/fedback and they are being worked on by the development team and Admin
On the positive front, overnight it would seem that they have managed to fix one of the main issues impacting quite a few peeps, so now if you
a) click on your ::Shrep
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/shrep/settings/
b) Enable it
c) Click the "Leave Rep" tab at the top of the screen
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/shrep/leave/
d) you will now get a listing of all those in your :: Friends list who have similarly set their :: Shrep to "Enable"
e) On this list you will see on the right hand side of the screen a number of buttons
e.g a blue S or a green V meaning that you can Site Rep or Vouch Rep each of your Shrep enabled :: Friendsaccordingly
This is a big fix/improvement on yesterday !!!
Things are now actually starting to make a little more sense !!!
Next task is to re-read the newsletter/.pdf and also the revised onscreen (in usual circled blue background SH text display) so as to start using the new functionality to Shrep (Meet, Site and Vouch) those Friends in your list.
I'll have a 'play' , unless Admin or St3v3 already have, and try and post some user/peep speak step by step guide in this thread so as to try and help people.
(I just need to transfer the screen to the other monitor so that I can see the whole page in one rather than having to scroll up and down the screen/page so as to check things - it's all new and therefore confusing, especially if unsure and on a small screen)
Were currently working through a list of stuff to make it more user friendly, fingers crossed everything will make a lot more sense by the end of the day.
Bouncy,
OK ready for a brief step-by-step Vouch lesson ?
1, go to your ::Shrep
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/shrep/settings/
2, Click the "Leave Rep" tab at the top of the screen
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/shrep/leave/
3, Look at your list of Shrep enabled :: Friends
4, Look along the line for a :: Friendwith a green V (Vouch indicator)
5, You now have the personal option as to whether to 'delete' , 'submit' or just plain old leave/not undertake a Vouch for this :: Friend at this time, you can always come back to it later
6, If you want to Vouch, then click the 'submit' button
7, This then brings up a new screen with some "Leave Vouch for xxxxxxxxx" (where xxxxxxx is the profile name of your :: Friend)
8, Below this is a free form text box (says Free Comment) where you can post/write something you wish, e.g. I've/we've known this person for 'x' years and they are nice, horny, etc.
9) Then click the green Vouch button to submit this comment
10) you are then returned to your earlier "Leave Rep"
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/members/shrep/leave/ screen so that you can then leave a Vounch for your next :: Friend
11) your 'submission' then gets sent to your :: Friend so that they can 'approve' it, the send process takes a few minutes to get to your :: Friends profile and they'll get a red numbered count box alongside their :: Shrep next time they log on, i.e. like when they get new messages in their :: Mailbox
Hopefully this now makes more sense
- Soz St3v3 if this not in 'officialise SH speak' but tried to do a step by step in text rather than via a screen grab for Bouncy
St3v3 / Admin / Developers,
Enhancement idea
When you go to a profile and they have their :: Shrep enabled if you click it you are taken to their Shrep screen ('report' ?)
There are 4 tabs, namely "Shrep", "Meet Rep", "Site Rep" and "Vouch" however the screen display defaults to their "Meet Rep"
Now I can understand that these have been ordered, basically, alphabetically. However perhaps the default screen should be the "Vouch" one.
If you think about it, most people looking at profiles will want to try and get to know people or know more about them first before setting up a meeting and the "Vouch" screen is logically one of the first steps along this path.
Also there are some people, for whatever reasons, are currently only here for chat, etc. so this screen defaulting to their "Vouch" rather than "Meet Rep" wouldn't be potentially seen to 'de-value' them in some peoples eyes
Just a thought and one that would be easily actioned by just changing the script/SQL
well bambi can work it,so anyone else is going to find it easy. wink
I just tured it off, I don`t want to be vouched for or rated thanks.

That's why the default setting is 'off' so members can choose to use the system if they wish to.

I'm not keen on being vouched for either but I'm afraid it will only get more difficult for the likes of myself to get meets without it now it's here :-(

Following on from that, as a purely academic and hypothetical question, in my own head at least, SHREP seems to be all or nothing at the mo? If you enable it, it includes meet rep, site rep, vouch rep? Would it be possible to allow users more than a simple enable / disable of the whole lot, to activate the bits they do want, and disable the bits they don't?
N x x x ;)

Thing is we are only using the vouch bit, which is basically a way for people who know you to say you are who you say you are.
i see no problem with that or the site rep,in many social situations we judge new people on the impression we have gained from other people before i not the whole story, but an adult knows that.
We arent planning on using the meets bit cos its no ones business but ours who we have or havnt shagged, but i have quite enjoyed reading nice things mates, and others wink have put so far.
i'm with yous as per kaz lol not using meets bit don't like that but the vouch thingy bit is kinda nice

Its OK Flowers, you can't rate yourself ;)
Can we lock threads that ask for someone to vouch for them please? confused

Excellent idea Freckle, however bet the MODs are already on to this and that they will be busy 'weeding out' such Forum posts as a matter of routine over the next few weeks.
Might be up to those who want to use Shrep, remember the default position is on a profile that it is dis-abled, to actually make friends with people lol
