Going to sound like Billy Nomates here, but I've got to use up a weeks holiday soon. Asked a few mates, relatives if they fancy going away but everyones either already booked or can't get the time off.
So I just wondered if anyone on here has ever gone on holiday alone, and can you recommend a place to visit as a single (Europe only) cool, I'm not real lookihg for a place where i might meet swingers, just somewhere to chill out. Fancy Ibiza, It seems to have calmed down a bit and not so full of 17 year old pee'd out of there heads, and there's some real cheap flights biggrin
Also do you think it’s easier for a guy or a girl to travel alone? I guess it’s safer for a guy alone but you get the feeling they are loners and maybe a little weird (which i am lol ) Where as a girl traveling alone shows she’s strikingly independent and knows how to handle herself and the world, or is that me being patronizing.
And to end any confusion confused I'll be travelling as Darren, Rebecca will be staying at home for the week
Travelling as a single person is fabulous.......when you travel with someone you tend to ignore everyone around you but when you travel alone you talk to other people and make friends.....which is great.
I'm not a fan of Ibiza or any party-town but Amsterdam is fabulous (cheap flights are readily available)......Madrid or Barcelona are great.....if you want somewhere a little more sophisticated I've heard that Prague is a wonderful place.
If you want to get a little further afield.....Egypt is great and not as expensive as you think if you get a cheap last minute deal. And you can't go wrong with somewhere like New York, nice and metropolitan and a generally funky place to go.....
Hope that helps and that you have a fabulous time.....PM me if you want some more info particularly on Egypt or America.....

I totally agree with you Helen, I've just come back from a week's break in Portugal on my own and have to admit I had the greatest time.
The thing I've found about travelling on your own is that it definatly opens up more space within yourself to actually interract more with people and too really come into your own. This is not to say you suddenly start telling BIG fibs about where your from and what your background is but more that you realise that you are not just a person made up of the relationships around you but someone in your own right who can choose exactly what you want and don't want.
You should definatly give it a try, you might suprise yourself.
Jeru.
P.s Can give you info on Portugal or Asia if that's any help.
Bye for now.
Great question Rebecca - I too am considering a holiday on my own later this year cool More of a pampering type holiday than an adventurous one though redface
You know why don't you Kat mad
I went to the island of Madeira on my own and had a wonderfull time. there is a great website on the island and its a fabulous place. There is only one Hotel i n the old town of Funchall and thats the place to be
its called the porto de santa maria and its glorious
Have a fab time cool
oh by the way I was in Nice for the Monaco gp last weeekend and thats pretty lively for a week and it only costs about a fiver to catch the train to Monaco or Cannes lol
I've often travelled alone , it's one of those things you can do as a man that can be a problem for women . It's different to being 1/2 of a couple , it allows you to do a lot more and cover more ground and do it at shorter notice since I don't care if a room I get for one night is a palace or a dump so long as it's warm and dry . Most women like something fairly plush . Now being on holiday for 2 weeks on a beach with a fit girl who boogies your woogie is worh a little effort in picking the hotel !
Thanks for the input folks. I’m certainly going to give it a try. I do fancy a week away from everyone. It’ll be good to meet a whole new set of people and to be honest I do like my own company sometimes.
You’ve got me thinking about where to go though, Portugal is a good call but the footie is on so maybe the price are a little on the high side, although Madeira looks nice as does Madrid, Amsterdam and being on the beach with a fit girl who boogies your woogie. lol
