Not like we pay £50 a year tho is it ....
Admin are on site looking into it.
Apoligies for the inconvienience
Feel your pain but this is a comparitively complex setup, I should imagine its running on several servers interlinked using multiple pieces of software to take care of the various sections of the site. Looks like something went pop with the chatroom login and in trying to resolve it other issues arose or systems needed to be reset.
Im actually impressed by the quick response of the admins.
But then im:
Some of the front end servers fell over and this had an impact on chat as well, we had to restart them, we will need to carry out some analysis to find out why, at the moment I can get into chat fine but once in a while I get An error occurred
Application error, so were looking at that, Big_Fraser is right, there's multiple servers for the different parts of the sites, which recently have been stable, I'd like to apologise for the downtime and please feel free to pm me or put in a support ticket for an extension if you have suffered.

lol
I was trying to keep it simple smile it didn't actually topple over, like fall over due to gravity, one of them is still fecked (we have 6 at the moment), so were sorting it out.

It's quite useful for shutting the complainers up.
A ball gag works just as well...

You'll be inundated with mail from suffering woman who's guys are in desperate need of an extension now!! lol
Seriously, I think it's fantabulous that SH are now looking at extensions for down time. I hope that people don't take the piss!!
why not automatically issue extensions to those that pay either for membership or extras, am not talking huge amounts just an extra half day per 3 hours down time etc or something similar

Great idea in principle Sarah, but the extra cost incurred would probably be reflected in next years premiums
I also feel the members would be better served by investing that cash into tech improvements (get a faster gerbil to power the servers lol ) to reduce the number of instances of downtime, rather than simply compensating when it happens.

We would need to rebuild the billing system as its not possible to do this with what we have at the moment, we have to manually extend and add bits, so whilst we may be able to do something in the future with annual membership & extras, monthly subscriptions would create a real issue as they get batch processed in the early hours when everything is quiet, there's also the possible impact of moving subscription dates, I know for some its important that certain payments are taken at certain times for budgeting.

Why not just stop harping on about minuscule down time and enjoy the site for what it is? The enjoyment you get from it.
wink

Said entirely in jest Jewlnmart, you can hire the car for £10k a day - and I dont place monetary value on things like that anyway - you cant compare wink

If i could afford a Veyron i think i'd probably already have a house with a garage, or the money to build one. as it is, i probably couldn't afford to 6MPG or whatever the fuel economy is on one of those
