just been reading through the forums,
i noticed some threads that are in the cafe that maybe could be considered debates, so should they be in the other section?
i dont like the split, never did, i think any thing in the cafe could move into debate, after all any conversation that has differing opinions can be considered a debate.
do people think the split is working?
regarding the introductions section, why cant we just have a refreshed new user thread in the cafe? i use dto look at the new user threads before, but i dont go into that section now, and it seems the threads die very quick, id like to see it back in the cafe where there is a natural merge in.
i may be on my own in this, but a few months in i just wondered what other people were thinking.
in edit... i feel the split has for what ever reason made the forums dry up. the cafe is just full of happy birthday threads these days, not that i dont like birthday threads, but thats all it sems to be lately, or should we split that and have a seperate birthday aniversary section???lol

happy birthday!

noooo not yet flipping heck im heading towards 40 fast enough as it is.

I agree on a lot of what was said there (not the stupid fool & the "happy birthday"..idiot!)
but, having a quick think, the devision was to take the "current affairs" threads to one side, as they 'seemed' to be the ones with the most contention.
However of course, any thread can develop into lively discussion and differing opinion. So should a thread then be moved from cafe to current afairs if that happens? (of course, it may not be a current affair thread, but a thread about nob-bend, or arse size, or even, gawd forbid: new music (which reminds me  )
so I'm thinking, one of the reasons for a "current affairs" forum, which may have been to remove ire and bile to a safe place, hasn't really worked... and may even have given folk to many 'second thoughts' as to where to place a thread... hence a bit of a die-off.
I was one of the people who was a little tired of seeing threads that would have been considered current affairs in the cafe, simply because they nearly always did descend into the 'not nice place', aside from debate. But having said that, I would rather they were here, and a livelier cafe, along with new people dropping in to say hi.
i like it like that.

From my point of view there is less contention since the threads were moved.
When they were in the cafe people who usually would not get involved did.
Since the move the current affairs side of things, has been very slow. Then again so has the cafe, in my opinion.
I am not sure if the split is a good thing or not, all I can say is the forum as a whole has been rather quite of late.
Think it will be one of those topics, that some will agree a good move and others will not. For me I think the move suited the more....shall we say, livlier subjects into a seperate place.
But you cannot please all of the people all of the time.
I like the split.
I love that the current affairs has moved. I only go in there when I can be arsed to read other people's crap which isn't often to be honest.
I can peruse the softly quiet stuff in here and feel cosy and leave the contentious stuff for the job that I am paid for rather than paying for the 'pleasure' on a swinging site.
I am here to fuck people. I chat to the people I want to chat to. I am here to have a giggle.
Now I can leave the current affairs on a political site where it belongs.
