After the London bombings I personally (aswell as many others) have been subjected to racial abuse from people passing by in cars etc. That I could live with as these were sad loosers who wouldn't say it face-to-face. Being singled out for searching by police even made me feel more secure, I was quite pleased to see that. Then we had individuals here who made comments like "We're up for martyring afew of them". I often wondered who "they" are. Pakistanis? Muslims? Blacks? Anyone who looks foreign?
It was this kind of stupid attitude and blatant ignorance which then probably led to the death of De Menezez. Apparently he wasn't wearing a big jacket but a denim (last time I checked it wasn't illegal to do so). Nor was he carrying a rucksack. He even stopped along his journey to buy a newspaper. He didn't run over any barrier as CCTV footage showed him walking down the underground normally. Apparently he only ran when he was near the platform to catch a train. I wonder why then it was claimed by the police that he was wearing this and carrying that etc when he wasn't I wonder why people tell lies unless they have nothing to hide........
So he was a normal guy going about his daily business when he was pinned down and shot 11 times, 7 in the head, 1 in the shoulder and 3 missed.,
So next time anyone feels like opening their gob and making a fool of themself, stop. Have a think. Then shut up.
Like Misschief, I don't quite understand this thread. Some clarification would be nice.
However, in life mistakes are made. In my job........I get the tipex out and correct it. In an armed officers job........it ends up with a body. This is not the first mistake, nor will it be the last. But for every mistake..........there are a thousand happy endings.
At the end of the mistake you will always have a grieving family.........but if they did not do their job then there would be many more grieving families. It is not just armed officers that make mistakes.......but police drivers as well......and everyday people who don't think while doing there normal jobs and unintentionally kill their colleagues. Check out the Health and Safety Executives website on fatal injuries. We live in a non-perfect world.......and mistakes happen.
I am not saying that the guy deserved it.........in fact I feel sorrow for his family........but I realise that to combat crime......some mistakes will happen as you are putting human beings into the equation.

It would have to be a particularly dim person who deliberately put out such false information whilst being aware that CCTV recording would in all probability exist to show exactly what happened, and that there would in all probability be dozens of people who witnessed at least some of what went on.
Do you seriously think the Police are that stupid?
In all probability some mistakes were made and an innocent man paid the price for those mistakes, but look at it this way: if he had been carrying a bomb and was mad enough to intend to use it, and the Police had held back with fatal consequences for a large number of innocent people, how would you view the Police actions then?
My guess is (presumptous as it may appear) that you would be jumping up and down making precisely the same statement you've made here!
I'd prefer to wait and see what eventually becomes known about all this rather than rushing to make such ill-informed assertions.
