I was in Virgin a couple of hours ago and there seem to be more games about now for the PSP compared to a few weeks ago. Still thinking about getting a PSP but games are still better on the PC. Love the idea of having a PSP on holiday though...
Do yourselves a favour and buy a Sega Dreamcast for under £20 and pic up some of the best games ever made for less than a tenner. Severly the most under rated machine ever, Ive been playing mine online nearly every night for what must be 5 years. The Dreamcast is based on an arcade board called the naomi which runs arcade games like Soul calibur. This is why you get Arcade perfect conversions onto Dreamcast.
To be this good takes Sega
Dreacast, the legend will never die
Mr Tweeky
I can confirm the dreamcast is the best value machine out there - its awesome for its age and the price!!
As for the PSP get GTA liberty city - the fifa 06 game is decent too, and virtua tennis!!! basically a great little macine but do yourself a favour pick up a decent memory stick and fire a couple of movies on there - its got a great screen
I got a PSP for Xmas and initially wondered if i would get much use out of it. Would I really be arsed playing it when I'm in the house and I have a pS2 with loads of games to get through.
The reality is, I now hardly ever use the PS2 - the graphics - thanks to the bettertechnology and superb screen - are much better than the PS2 and as for the games, there is enough out there to keep you entertained.
As with other consoles, you find there is a small % of quality games with a load of stuff you wouldn't normally go for.
Fifa, in my opinion is shite - ISS Pro Evo has long been the better series and Pro Evo 5 is no different. Liberty City Stories is unbelieveably good - albeit a bit disappointing some of the better aspects of San Andreas haven't been used (like going into clothes shops, barbers etc). Wipeout remains the best racing series there is and Pure on the PSP could be the best yet, when you take into account the free downloads
The porn element is great too. Jenna Jameson isdoing her bit on mine at the moment!
Heres some tips to enchance the lifespan of your PSP
put photos of rude things on it
Convert your "home" vids on it, theres a free psp video converter available, just google free psp avi converter
Upgrade the internal software through the menu to the current version of 2.6 (wirelessly)
Get a USB>mini USB cable so you can directly connect your psp to your pc
Once youve done this set up a RSS server on your home pc. Version 2.6 psp's support RSS feeders, meaning you will be able to wirelessly access your music collection anywhere in the home (providing you have a wireless network), without having to store music actually on the PSP (good for people without big memory cards)
Download a Eloader (google Eloader and Fanjita, to do this requires a Original copy of grand theft auto: Liberty city stories, as the Eloader is a dummy save game for GTA) which lets you run "homebrew" applications,
Homebrew applications are designed by ordinary people, for people. meaning you can install your own software onto your PSP and play it (including emulators for SNES and Sega Mega Drive/Master System, meaning you can play mario, sonic and many more on your psp, all saved to your memory card)
Homebrew is usually (99% of the time) free software. the emulators are free to get, however you must own a original game to download a ROM version to be used on a psp, in the examples of sonic and mario above
The eloader can play a huge multitude of programs to do loads of tasks, Fanjitas site has a list of what works and doesnt. Some of the software is VERY handy, such as being able to utilise the infrared port on the top of your pc as a "remote" (could be used a controller, tho not as effectivly) for the PS2, Remotes for Sony Branded TV's, Videos, DVD players, and theres a couple of pieces of homebrew software which cater for other brands too (Imagine it to be like tuning a psp remote program to a TV in the same way as you would for one of the ONE FORALL tv/dvd/video combi remotes.
