Couldn't agree more with the setiments expressed. Guys wherever you are keep safe and all the best.

And the same to everyone else having to do their job on Christmas Day and beyond.
Nurses
Doctors
Care Workers
Power/utility workers
All the public services in fact whether uniformed, in civvies, armed, disarmed and so on.
To all the many many people keeping the country going - thanks!
:P

may be the site can give free membership to those serving out of area over chrimbo ????? come on admin i konw your a good bunch do you think its a good idea folks?? biggrin
Yes, well said - THE problem nowadays is that the servicemen and women all have views of their own (rightly) and often have to fight in situations that they don't agree with.
In the old days, the morals of war and defence of the realm were more straight forward.
Plim sad

Fair comment and whilst we are all aware of the invaluable services of the personnel you mentioned, the thread was originally intended to remember those that won't be able to simply return to their home after their shift has finished on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, etc, etc...
I did not include such personnel because I did not want to dilute the thread. It was intended to be an armed forces "remember them at Christmas" thread.
May I extend my thoughts and best wishes and those of my familiy to anyone from the Mercian Regt. still out there in the various theatres of operation across the globe.
Yes, but I did want to extend it to include all those who are working away from home at Christmas and New Year - many of those not abroad are doing long shifts, overnight shifts and need to respond to any emergency which eats into their time with their families too.

You're more than welcome. Lonely nights without family are the same the world over.

thanks jags im also doing 14hr nights starting from the 22nd right round
going to dress up as a cheeky elf xmas morning to get them all up and do brekkis

Flipping heck... that's a trawl. I once did (in my youth) 7 long days straight in A&E in a hospital in Glasgow's South Side over Christmas and New Year. My split shifts all joined up into one huge shift, mind I soon learnt to do stitching and other non-nurse stuff!
Even though I 've left those days behind my thoughts are always with those on the front line of whatever enemy is theirs. Poverty, ill health, war, pestilence, the general public and all the rest.

To all who serve and most especially those in the front line.
Best wishes for the season and come home safe.
Yep have to add my sentiments to.
To the armed forces ...you shouldn't have to be there in te first place but best wishes and heres to a speedy and safe return.
To those working over xmas I hope you can still enjoy the spirit of xmas ....you have it within your selves to do so.
To those whose circumstances are blighted by ill health or other reasons that will darken the festive season ...may 2008 bring you the change in fortune you so desire .
To everyone else Merry christmas or whatever appropriate festive good wish is relevant to your world . smile :) :)
My best wishes for the festive season to all our armed forces personnel - I hope you keep well and are able to be reunited with family and loved ones soon.
And to all those in the public services who are working for the common good this Christmas, hope you manage to enjoy it just as soon as you finish working... whatever you do!
Nola x
I'm working nights until Boxing Day so I'd like to wish all my fellow healthcare professionals, firemen ( ) policemen ( ) armed forces personnel and anyone else working over the Xmas period a very Merry Christmas biggrin
BUMP.
I have just about to finish almost 20 years of service (army), in fact my unit fly out on 28th December for 6 months somewhere not nice.
A big thanks to all who have served (including the families who suffer too).
A big thanks to all who are still serving.
A big thanks to all who support the above (not the politics but the men and women who serve).
On new years eve, I always buy a pint and put it on the windowsill for all the guys and girls who are away at this special time of year, and for the ones who wont be coming back. Stand easy, your job is done.
to those who offer up their lives for our safety, and in honour of the dead . . .
Thank You!
a day late, but Merry Christmas, and hope the New Year sees you home soon!
neil x x x ;)
