Are you in trouble with spelling, or do your fingers fly too fast for your brain to catch up?
If this applies to you go and visit , it's a free download that loads into the tools button on the tool-bar and checks what you write in these little boxes.
If everyone knew about this already except me, please accept this apology! I've been using it a couple of months now and think it's great.
I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE HELPFUL to add to my post above this message from Sussexguy that you can read further down the thread, so that all the salient information was in one place:
I use Spellbound with firefox same kinda thing I think.
Never heard of it before - won't help me because I use Firefox, but it sounds like a really cool idea which should help lots and lots of people, and enrich all our lives. Thanks! biggrin lol :D  :D
I heard this mentioned in a different thread and meant to download it but forgot. I've just downloaded it but now cannot find it (not very sussed afraid - where is that sussexguy when you need him). So am posting a reply to see if it is working.
And it is!!! Hooray - and I'm sure sussexguy will be delighted that he has been added to the dictionary.
Very good - thank you muskateer a useful tool to us forum new comers. x0x0x0x
Anything to get that avatar in view again!
ooops - I just noticed I spelt musketeer wrong redface - blimey not much of an advert for a spell checker am I confused
it just tried to change my ooops to poops LOL
I strongly disapprove of spell-checkers. If everyone's spelling were corrected by machinery, I could not have enjoyed chat room scenarios like this: (Names altered to protect the ignorant)
<Fanny> Yes, Dick, I'm single
<Dick> We should meet up for a drink
<Fanny> No thanks, Dick, I'm not your typo
Or the one where the girl was telling how she likes to relax in the bath with a rubber dick. (I think it was a typo dunno )
What I would like to see though is an apostrophe scanner. Standard spell checkers don't pick up on missing or superfluous apostrophes, and frankly, they piss me off.

Apostrophe's eh, mad ! ! !
Yes, I too hate 'em but as yo' can see, they useful when used correctly, trouble is they're the most ill-used form of punctuation BUT my favourite is the "n", as in "fish n chips", "his n hers" etc, there has to be a word out there for that annoying little sod !

I assume you've read Lynne Truss's "Eats Shoots And Leaves"....wonderful book. I agree with her about everything she says in the book. When I was reading it on a long train journey I kept wanting to stand up and cheer while I was reading it!
