sprouts seem to be the marmite of vegetables in that people seem to either love them or hate them....... what do people on here think of them? i tolerate them around xmas but don't think i could have them all year round!!!
god what a boring thread this must seem like!! that's what sundays do for me!!!
Love them, I could quite happily eat a plateful for dinner every night but I'd probably have to buy shit loads more loo roll.
They're absolutely fLucking digusting!
I've NEVER liked them but every Crimbo, my mother insists on putting them on my plate - "go on, it's Christmas" Yes, mother and you're spoiling it!
Rank!
And so is marmite - bleurgh!!!!

you want to see if you can coerce your mother into putting broccoli or another vegetable on your plate this year!!!
LOVE 'em!
Christmas dinner isn't christmas dinner without sprouts! Mmmmmm!
They are a lovely wholesome winter veggy that smell disgusting and taste quite bitter if they are not prepared well or fresh enough! you really shouldn't eat sprouts all year round as they are seasonal and taste best around autumn and winter!
I find a spoonfull of sugar in the pan when they are cooking gives them a sweeter and more pleasant edge to them....... although a little unhealthy...... biggrin
Hark at me! lol Little miss delia in training! did I mention I only learned to cook a year ago? I had a baptism of fire cooking Christmas dinner with John for 12 people. To make it worse it was a Danish christmas dinner and I had no idea what to do with most of the ingredients! It's funny now but at the time I was stressed to the eyeballs! :D
Anyway........ sprouts...... I like them
Marmite............ YUKKY! Ewwww take it away!

She already does every veg there is! Honestly, it's like the feeding of the five thousand in their house at Crimbo. I dunno ... she always insists i eat just one sprout because it's Christmas. I have mash it up with loads of salt and gravy so I can force it down my throat.
what about christmas pudding? i know some people don't like it. i don't mind it myself but not in large quanitities. find it a bit rich!!!

Revolting! Luckily mumsy just buys a little one for her and hubby and gets a gateaux or summat for the rest of us.
Hate 'em. I can't believe they are supplied legally - to children as well!

yep.....marmite spread on sprouts!
Sprouts are the vegetable alternative to the coffee chocolates in the quality street box that no one ever eats.
I would rather knaw of my right hand than eat them, horrible things.
:moon:
Sorry but Marmite is utterly foul, it should be used as a method of torture, but sprouts on the other hand, yum yum. Did someone mention xmas pud??????????please dont mention it again its vile....lol lol
Sprouts...Are Fookin disgustin! They are the balls of Satan himself...only good for torturing kids and food fights..(the aerodynamic properties of a lobbed sprout are second to none...leave a red mark too!) evil

You my sir are sadistic to even think of that - pervert lol
Sprouts - I love them!
Funny thing though, I once went to Brussels with a group of people on a holiday, and we tried to find some to buy and take back home to someone as a joke souvenir. We never saw any though - we tried every food shop we saw!
Mike.
Best way to serve sprouts
Prepare as normal then
slice them thinly into little strips
you will have a big pile of spout slices
slice an onion finely
heat two teaspoons of oil in a fry pan
add the onion and a diced clove of garlic fry for 3 mins bung in the sprouts
now chuck in a teasoon of bashed up coriander seed a teaspoon of wholegrain mustard, stir for about five mins and the serve, if you like a squeeze of lemon at the end is cool
smile
try it honest
Nah best way to serve sprouts:
Don't buy them in the first place they are minging! Smelly horrible flatulence causing puke inducing muck.
Same goes for Marmite, nasty yeasty smelly brown sticky goo that tastes like nothing else in the world
lol
Love sprouts.... biggrin ...........
Love marmite.... :D ...........
HATE Xmas pudding sad
Mrs Cov
use fresh ones and don't overcook them. cut up some bacon in small pieces and fry.
when the bacon s nearly cooked chuck in the sprouts which are finely sliced. cople of minutes add salt if needed and loads of milled black pepper. tasty.
the only green things that i ever eat are only green due to lowlight conditions and a slight use by date miscalculation. Nothing naturally green appeals.

I find it quite strange that people pay money for these little green flatulence creating mini Dandelion bushes. Mothers and wives then go to the trouble of boiling the things and smelling the kitchen out on Christmas day and then force everyone to eat the horrid things. I think they should be chopped and dried and then rolled and smoked by those that have grown them. Marmite is a different story, at least it doesn't make you trump all night.
Sprouts for heavens sake, we have enough gorgeous tasting veg without having to eat those little green monsters. Still each to their own as we say, some people just love em.
Judy.
