Well at least they dont sit by and watch demented truck drivers set fire to trucks full of lambs eh
n fact, if you were a police chief who really hated Brown an wanted to make him look as Stalinist as possible, you couldn’t do better than send anti-terror police round to search the Commons office of an Opposition MP and then arrest him

There are two ways people can take this
The government did it to ?
Errr...what exactly ?
Ahhh..............
TO GET BAD PUBLICITY !
That's it, they wanted news stories about how they suppressed free speech !
Mind you, the cons have history of using the police to get their own back.
As well as using them to beat the crap out of strikers.
Well, you can read the cps guidance on misconduct in public office HERE , so you can do the judgment bit yourself.
Maybe THIS blogger got it right ?

The reason the public send MPs to parliament is to scrutinise the government, using any means at their disposal. So either there is a lot more to this than we know, or the police have made a huge blunder which strikes deep at existing concerns about civil liberties in Britain.

“How fortunate for leaders that men do not think.”
Adolf Hitler
“The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed.”
Adolf Hitler
“When an opponent says: 'I will not come over to your side,' I calmly say, 'Your child belongs to us already. You will pass on. Your descendents, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time, they will know nothing else but this new community.'.”
Adolf Hitler
“The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”
Hermann Goering
“We can't expect the European People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism.”
Nikita Khrushchev
