Stop Cam Stelth?

Quote by peenut
Stealth depends on who and for what reason. If a web cam is put in your home without you knowing, thats stealth, but if you broadcast , then thats about as stealthy as having sex in the high street on Saturday afternoon! Can't see what all the fuss is about, people were happy enough to cam on the open net , but at least here you have to be a member and so abide by the rules and be accountable and reasonably traceable !

the problem for me is yes, even though i am on a public cam... i know exactly who is watching me.... if i don't want a person watching me, i can turn it off.... simple because I am armed with all of the facts and the information to make that decision......... if people are then in stealth they take that right away from me to make that reasoned choice.... so i decide not to to put on my cam at all.....then everyone loses so to speak.....
I just think it is creepy..... if you are brave enough to watch someone, why are you not brave enough to let that person know?????.... if someone can come up with a reasoned answer for that i'd love to hear it.......

 The point is for Steve and I, along with the other OP's is that we have to check all rooms.... We cant just open a room of our own and sit there all night can we?? rolleyes
Therefore we dont have the option....

So how do you cam at all? If you are flicking through all the rooms that is? confused
Because we do stay in some rooms for a while.... We are like other chatters and do like to chat to people...
Some nights I will just flick through the rooms and others I will spend longer in rooms where I know people....
Other nights like tonight I dont go in at all.....
I don't like the idea of the stealth mode either as has been said why would you want to use it ? Why wouldn't you want someone to know you were watching them?
Its ok for CREEPY STALKERS but I think a lot of people (women especially) who cam will be more reluctant to do so now and result in more private camming on other messenger programs.
No to stealth cam.
Minx x x
Yes from us too
We have been in chat tonight and yes had the cam on (nothing rude may i add) and its very weird not knowing who is watching. I know alot of people dont like change to sites when they are upgraded but i think this is the only thing that didnt need changing. As alot of you are saying there might be someone in that you do not want watching you on cam and you know they are watching and also like Shireen said about Steve i sometimes get uncomfortable at bi males watching me (not that i have nothing against bi males, each to their own).
If you are in a club you would want to know who is watching you and if there is someone watching that you are not comfortable with then you can stop.
And don't even get me started on the discussion about paying members are better than the ones that havnt paid!

I fear it does not!
The watcher has not installed the camera.
The cammer switches their cam on - thus giving concent to watch.
*waiting for a sound logical arguement on one side or the other to stop this ferkin fence sticking up my bum!

I could be wrong with the interpritation but the owners of the site have given permission for the watchers to watch others who untill today that was not possable therefore they are invading the privicy of the people camming

Nope - the cammer gives concent by switching their cam on - other members previously had the option to click and look at someones cam if it was on. The control over who watches is still (as it was before) with the person who chooses to watch.

And I like to know who is watching so that I have the choice who watches me
I vote YES get rid of the stealth mode completely. I do not know what the new site admin were thinking of by even thinking of allowing people to watch cams in stealth mode. It is open season for stalkers i'm afraid. I would like to see the same system as Paltalk , you can block someone from viewing your cam and even reading your text. If they can put in a stealth mode they can put in a cammer's right to block people they don't want viewing them from doing so.
Davie( will probably still cam but as I don't do anything on cam and never would go naked then i'm not worried but for the women it is a real issue )
For us it’s the stop the stealth. Why would you want to use it

also how about usernames being in green or something for all those that have paid to be extra. A chat ignore facility would be good too for those that have paid to be extras.
I paid in the hope of getting more, more options etc. See how it goes. hopefully admin will reply to this, also could their be an FAQ available for the paid extra members.
Thanks

well give susie what he wants & have done with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
give em a little green thingy ........then we can take an educated guess who` spying!!!!!!!!!!!!
biggrin
from the other thread

Your point is?
Is that any sort of valid arguement in favour of creepy cam?
In Edit: My real name is available to those I choose to give it too.
That is really me in my avatar.
Does this mean I don't want to know who is watching me? No.
Ok i have had time to think a little more.. in all honesty i love going on cam.. il either sit there and natter my chops off or il play... i like the idea that you can see who is watching you... so why the change. ??
i never had any limits to who watched me as the choice was and still is mine to keep cam on...
The reason i voted against this is cos i feel its better to know whos watching you.. and in all honesty i love an audience.. the more there is the more turned on i get wink
Now its gonna be left to guessing who watching me... sad
I know il prob get stick for this.. but hey im being honest smile
Fun xxxx

If you are happy with it hun then I dont have a problem, but I would at least like the option to know who was watching me kiss

I hate to agree with peanut (for some reason) but the nut has a point - once you put your cam on in an open room you may as well assume EVERYONE is watching (little eye symbol or not). You know who is in the room, you can still turn off if you're not happy with who is in the room.
Whilst I cannot see the advantage of stealth for anyone (as their presence in the room is still there) and agree peolpe who choose to use it are in some way creepy...
Once your cam is on and some members are there who you do not personally know through meeting them - then at that point you have no real idea of who is watching you anyway - they are just usernames. Even with a little eye symbol - you have no idea who of the watchers is recording your cam (yes that can be done) and then showing it elsewhere.

YES from me too!
It is totally against the prime principal of things in here - CONSENT!
Happy with many of the other changes - but this is just creepy.

all of these are valid points. i'm somewhat confused about the feature, cos i don't use the chatroom all that much, and haven't been able to test it, but i have read this thread, and the one linked to . . . . and i'm still confused . . . confused
if we turn our cams on, we take it as read that ANYONE has access? ((( within that particular room? ))) the fact people's user names are showing means other users obviously have an idea of who MIGHT be watching? dodgy username pops up in the room you have issues with, cam goes off? that bits easy?
but . . .
firstly . . . why would someone feel the need to go into stealth mode in the first place, given that someone turning their cam on is necessarily making a public performance for people they don't really know, why would a user feel the need to be secretive about it? if they feel the need to be secretive about it, what does that say about them? if they want to hide it from the person on cam, what is going on in that relationship that requires secrecy and the denial of consent?
secondly . . . what is the logic behind providing this service, and why do admin think it's a good idea?
dunno
neil x x x ;)
