Has anbody ever been sent a mail on SH and it has opened itself? I have rec'd a new mail and when I logged on to check it,it had already been read?
im really worried someone has access to my account

Admin, Mods or Ops dont have access to anyone's PM's, the only person who can access them is the person who has the account.
BUT, yes I also had one opened yesterday which I hadnt read.

Private messages are exactly that, we don't intercept/delete/read anyones, unless requested too by the user if there is a case of abuse.
You are indeed most likly experiencing technical issues, which the new mailbox and further tweeking of the setup will resolve.
However its worth knowing that if you do send a mail, it will get to the user, sometimes because the database servers take a few minutes to sync. In the same situtation, you may get a notification of a mail sent before it appears in your inbox while the servers take the time to sync the data.
For instance:
Person sends PM via Database Server 1.
Email notifcation gets sent.
Recipient logs in and checks their mailbox on Server 2.
Mail does not exist on Server 2 because its still syncing over from Server 1.
And thats basicaly it

Also, forgot to mention, the email server has a small backlog at the moment, so the Pm notification mails may be slightly delayed getting to you.

Could the different servers and the above explain why I get notification of emails from some members quickly and not recieving notifictions that I have recieved pms from others?

Partly, it hasn't been as reliable as we would like and some server config changes have been made over the last few days to make it better.
There's also an issue with the likes of / /aol putting mails from this site into trash folders being worked on.
