Dirty perverts! :giggle:
Interesting point raised re not know how many are swingers. These days it seems quite "normal" to be open about being gay, but society hasn't got to the stage that people can say they are swingers as a natural part of general conversation.
Plim

is it not at least partly to do with the "swingers" fear of how they will be perceived rather than how people actually perceive "us" i'm very open about what i do and have never had any negative comments from any friends relatives or workmates upto now. even my pretty straight laced parents didnt bat an eyelid when we told them, the only person who could be seen as taking a negative is my brother but he hasnt said anything nor would he he just chooses not to ask about a topic he knows i would give an honest answer to
Of 9,000 sexual health clinic patient consultations, 12% were with swingers, with an average age of 43.

Maybe they should take into account the fact that more swingers have regular GUM consultations than any other part of the community. Because they attend the clinic frequently doesn't mean they have more STIs, just that they're being more responsible for their (and other people's) health. rolleyes
I think there may be a misunderstanding about dedicated swingers (who operate through sites like this) and the huge dating industry which has developed in recent years.
Though the article is a warning about group sex and not using a condom there are some issues I take with it. One issue I have it is limited to Holland and so any results, essentially, are limited to Holland. Second issue is there definition of swinger is quite broad and includes those who try the group sex once then leave for a variety of reason. For me, if the study focused on those who chose threesomes, foursomes, and group as a lifestyle choice I believe the rate would be lower. Third issue I have is the study is limited to three cities and I believe larger cities like Amsterdam were excluded. Fourth issue is that the study is not conclusive as it does not look at rates in other countries nor does it break down the groups. I tend to question if this study was done in order to feed the news cycle so that there is another sensational headline regarding the swinging community.
This is another scare mungering story. Trying to sell newspapers. Issue is, as soon as any story comes out it will be printed... At the end of the day, sex sells !
