Sweets of yesteryear...

Now, following on from Flower's thread that has a Snickers/Marathon debate in the midst of it... I thought I would enquire of my fellow forumites what, if any, sweets/chocolate from days of yore lol

would you bring back?
For me, it'd be Pacers - remember them? They were kinda like Chewits only white and green striped and spearmint flavour... :lickface: I loved 'em!!

Im nt sure what it was called but my local newsagents used to sell chocolate dust which had bits of broken smarties and other chocolate sweets in it.
Nola have a gander at this site for sweets of yesteryear!

I love that site!! It featured heavily in novelty Christmas pressies for work colleagues this year... had a fab time choosing!

No idea what Pacers were.... but does anyone remember wham bars and highland toffee bars? I managed to lose a few baby teeth sooner than expected thanks to those!
Or what about black jacks and fruit salads? Yummy!!!

I'm not a great one for nostalgia for old sweets, but I make an exception for Aztec bars.
I agree that "a quarter of" is a great website - where do you think I nicked my avatar pic from! lol

omg, this thread making me feel old remember all those sweets and eaten them as well.....
i remember filling a bag of sweets for hardly any money, and sweets in a jar you could buy by the quarter...
wagon wheels as big as a mini wheel!!!! lol
can't remember what they were called but it was a lump of pink bubblegum in a blue and yellow wrapper, hard as anything lol
sherbert dips, hated the liquorice but loved the sherbert lol...my mum used to prof there lol
opal fruits before they became starburst.....

samndave, they were dubble bubblys by anglo i think it was, you used to break your jaw trying to soften them, but they blew such huge bubbles, but if it got on your skin, hair or eyebrows, you couldnt shift it!!
Had many a chunk or fringe cut off from getting dubble bubbly stuck in it lol

Heck I feel really old now, this thread took me back to when I had my first Mars Bar, they hadnt been out long!

Highland toffee bars are still on sale in few places (err the highlands i seen em not much help i no) for the grand sum of 10p i hadnt seen them for years!

Mint Crisp ....or Mint Cracknel...whatever it was.... used to make my girlfriends tongue bleed profusely ...but she loved it .:shock:
White Bon bons ...I still get them now ..but have to heat them up to make the toffee soft enough to chew.

minx they were Bazooka Joes....you were supposed to collect the little cartoons in them for cool gadgets if I remember rightly.
I think you can still buy golden cups in some places
and parma violets.....yuk, they so make me barf....even the smel of them these days makesme feel ill. And even worse they do GIANT sized ones now.
Now swizzells, love hearts ans refresgers were more my thing....all that fizz and caused untold damages to minsides with the amount of acid in em lol

Acid drops - real ones that were so sour they made your cheeks meet. Nowadays they are pale imitations, with just a lemony flavour.
Proper hard midget gems - the black ones were liquorice flavour and the white ones tasted of white-currents.
