biggrin following on from secret sociaty thread someone mentioned a swinging heaven pin so swingers would recognise each other, seams like good idea , once cost are covered could donate rest to charity etc
have an  of design sure ther are many more, confused:
what you think :?: someone have know how on how to get them made :?: :?: :?:
I don't think I'd be keen to wear something like this, because I like to keep my swinging activities quiet... except from swingers. Trouble is I would never know who else knows that it is a swinging badge. . For others I'm sure it would be a good idea though.
biggrin nice to know, wern,t here then wink

As Judy says, we've talked about it, bounced a few ideas around, drafted some designs, even done some costing, but so far no actual action. With regard to your concern about discretion, we've pretty much reached a consensus in earlier discussions that it would be something inconspicuous, yet instantly recognisable to members while at the same time being utterly meaningless to anyone else.

It would be meaningful to those who know what it stands for, & obviously not all of them would be swingers. That would be my concern. As you have said, it has been discussed before so let's leave it there.

Not at all HungryP - if this does go ahead then the best thing that can be done is air any worries etc. biggrin
I would like to see the pin exclusive to SH, not seen as a 'swingers badge' and promoted as such. Just for users of SH to be able to recognise each other when out.
Sure some people will regard it as a swingers pin, I would only wear it in environments that I was comfortable in, and personally wouldn't think twice about correcting someone on my interpretation of the pin and what it is to me.
It sounds like a good idea folks.
But....
What would happen if people found out where it came from? I for sure have always tried to keep my bedroom life in the bedroom if u know what i mean?
Although to many people it would mean different things but for some it could make things a little more difficult for them.
There is no harm in giving it a go. If it doesn't work out then it will always be a momento. For me anyway

I really don't think anyone would notice to be honest. I wear a very obscure gold griffin tie pin with the letters LTIA on it, and no one has ever asked me what it means. Members of LTIA recognise it instantly, nobody else gives a damn.

I think we agreed that the pin would be pretty discrete - also people would only wear it when they were comfortable with being reconised as a member of the site. Aunty Mabels 90th surprise birthday party or events like that, would probably be better attended pinless lol
However, arranging to meet a small group of SH members, who you've never met before, in a pub for a drink would be an ideal pin wearing event biggrin
It wouldn't have to be something with letters but just a very simple symbol if anyone asked just say its just a decorative pin nothing more than that.
I want one...I want one...
really don't see an issue, if there was one, you either wear it or not as the mood suits and if your worried that your need for discretion would be compromised then don't wear the fLucker at all...

OK, point taken. However, if I'm attending a Munch there wouldn't be a lot of point in wearing it because everyone is a swinger(or on SH) anyway. I am inclined to think that the benefit would be in wearing it in everyday life, so that someone might quietly say to me "so you are a swinger/SH member as well wink " which would be great.
But how secret would it be once it has been featured in a News of the World exclusive rolleyes .
EDIT: If other people want to wear one, great. But not for me. :D

ok show me there then.....i just hope it has nothing to do with your avatar mate!
OK, maybe time for a bit of a recap:
Getting tiepins made in bulk to a custom design is not a problem. There are several manufacturers who would take on the job.
Deciding on a design is problematic because we can't put pictures of the thing in open forum for obvious reasons. It would have to be discussed in PM
Likewise, bringing the final design to the attention of people who might want one would also have to be done in PM so that lurkers won't know what it looks like.
Distribution cold be tricky: Dishing them out at munches would take care of members who go to munches, but what of those who don't? You'd need a delivery address, and I imagine a fair few people would be less than comfortable about giving their home address to a fingerbob in dark glasses.
Cost: An initial outlay would be required to get a batch of them made, and obviously those of us who put the money up front would hope to get it back. Again, selling them on for cash at munches would be a doddle, but how would people having them delivered pay? Paypal? Not on your life - they have a completely arbitrary 'morality clause' which basically says if they don't like you they can imprison your account and keep your money for six months without giving you a reason. Credit cards? Personal cheques? Would you trust us with your credit card number or bank details?
I don't mean to be negative, I'm sure a bit more research will provide satisfactory answers to these issues, but there'd be no point in going for it at all unless there were at least a few hundred people willing to commit themselves to buying one before we could risk laying out for an initial production run.
I am in favour of this one, I think it could be really useful at non SH swinging events such as clubs or parties.
We have met a couple of people from here at parties but did not know they were on here until afterwards, it could be a really good icebreaker in those circumstances.

thought about triangle with SH inside along bottom edge simple ,discreet colour optional or even diffrent colour, diffrent types of swinging, confused:
as its been disscused before maybe something on back burner decided :?:
OOh, I am all up for a Swinging heaven pin!!! What a fabulous idea!!! Saves walking into a pub and looking like a right piilok by making some hand gesture to show your a swinger!!! I support it 110%!!!!! biggrin
As I have said I am in favour of something that would make me recognisable to other members, however as much as a dedicated, custom made badge, would be preferable I don't think it would be workable.
Lets assume that there is enough interest to go ahead and have a set number made, that set number are then distributed to those that paid, then another couple of members come along and want one, but the trouble is the minimum run is 50 badges, so they now need to wait for another 48 members to add their name to the list etc etc. It would take forever,
Unless there is a way that a large number of badges could be got so that there was always a stock to send out I can't see it working unfortunately. I would have thought that something that is readily available in the high street would be a better option. The only problem being that there is then no exclusivity.

Oh...so this isn't any good then..... rolleyes
I think a pin it is a good idea, as some of you have said...if you wanna wear it you can, if you dont ...then dont...simple smile
Perhaps then something which is easily available on the High Street which can easily be customised, it then becomes exclusive.

I'm certainly in favour of some sort of pin, but I must admit I would be very selective about the occasions on which I wore it.
Mike.
Take it the local Church fete`s out then Mike?
