my profile says i'm a single male, so naturally people who don't know me might tend to assume i am in fact a single male, and might even be somewhat cynical occasionally if i suddenly mention my partner, but it's a hangover from the days when i actually was single, and i retained it as a free membership after the takeover. however, most people know i'm in a getting - on - for - longish - term - relationship with someone here, who happily also retains her account as a single fem?
i don't see the point in merging 2 swingle accounts into 1 couple account, to suit the perceptions of people i don't know, when profiles are largely irrelevant to the way we go about things anyways, and the content of our posts makes our status abundantly clear to anyone that reads them? ;)

i tend to read profiles b4 either responding to a "hello" in chat or replying to mail ,could say i see peeps profile as a c.v. and we all know what happens to c.v's when applying for jobs if there not interesting / relevant enough. there does however still seem to be a divide between forum users and photo / chatroom users when deciding who one wants to associate with.

It's supposed to be fun not a fecking job interview. 
If you only respond to people who's profile you 'vet' beforehand then it's your loss if you miss out on quality people you can't be arsed to get to know the old fashioned way of talking.

As for the chatroom user - forumite divide... it's always been there, so nothing new. :?

maybe true, we all have to decide how best to conduct ourselves when advertising for new playmates,i'm sure theres good and bad "candidates" in all the sections on could be condstrued if people are running up 1000's of "posts" on here maybe, maybe they have no time for going out and meeting people.

or it could be construed that people with thousands of posts have been here for years, are actively involved with SH as a site, their friends, and the lifestyle that revolves around it? but hey, WTF do i know about it?
chat users probably have infinitely more than a few thousand posts, cos you can bang out a few hundred lines in a single evening, but hey, who's counting?

As this has gone a bit off topic (for a change) 
I dont normally look at profiles of forum uses as I feel you get to know the person in other ways (mainly via socials, pm's etc), but if Im in the chat room I do look at profiles (but thats just cause Im perving) because I find it much harder to get to know someone in chat. Thats probably just me who is a bit on the slow side 
and some say they find it easier to get to know someone in the chatroom than in the forum, but each to their own. Also, I would definately not look at a profile before I made a decision if I should speak to someone.
But going back to the topic of single/couple profiles, if you are 'advertising' on here, you cannot place an advert as a couple unless your profile is set up as a Couple. So even though it does work for you Neil and Gem, it wouldnt work for others who may want to place adverts for meets.
Ramble over, I now need to stop posting and go out and meet some real people :wink:

of course that's true? if people are relying on ads for meets, they best well have an ad? it's horses for courses? we don't rely on ads, so there's no point having one, and there's no point knocking ourselves out typing up a decent profile that will hopefully attract people to our joint inboxes. this thread is not about ads, or a let's meet post, it's asking for advice, about clubs, on the forum?
which is to say, trying to judge people on the content of their profile, and suggest there's only one way to go about establishing contact, by ticking a load of check boxes that are ambiguous at best, and suggesting that if you don't do that, you shouldn't expect to be taken seriously, is an absolute nonsense?

that was the point i was trying to make in my first reply to i dont like spouting rules off.(NOT BEING HERE LONG AND ALL THAT).
regarding looking at peeps profiles b4 answering them doesn't stop me giving a civil reply, (they always get a "hi" returned), however as were here to meet strangers for nsa fun if someone says hi nice piccys etc, and are 230 miles away and their profile is all N/A then our chat re a meet "same day" is out of the picture, so they just get a hi more.

WTF dunno, but being the main organiser of the derby socials we entertain over 100 s.h. users every month,for over a year plus being someone elder than you my friend weve been on the swinging scene 27 years attended 16 diferent clubs in the uk in the last 6 years which probably totals 1000 visits so unlike you we believe we do know the f**k.
