Well for my pennies worth its true you will feel worse before you get better with manipulation, you say you feel bad with anything other than asprin but a quick chat with your doc will sort that out as you need a muscle relaxant from the sounds of things. If these make you feel crap then a good anti sickness tab along with it should have you feeling perky soon enough..
The reasons we know? Well Julie has suffered bad backs for the last 20 years, 2 discectomy's and months having treatment has left us a little clued up on things with regard to back pain and its treatments. All good now thankfully but all you said your going through she has done and tried and yes does work to a degree...
Good luck, it hurts like hell we know xxxx
And not even a hint of sarcasm!!

Thanks everyone for the pm's and the messages. I actually feel a little easier this morning but always feel a bit better in the morning wink
I am going back to the Doctor tomorrow and will hopefully get a change of anti inflamatories (the ones making me sick) I am trying to keep mobile but it is only 10 minute walkrounds at a time and more than likely going to cancel the 'Back man' on weds.
Special thanks to Pololady

I Im as dozzy as anything with all the painkillers and keep being sick with the anti inflamatories.

NWC, are you taking your anti-inflams with or after food? They are really harsh on your tum if you don't take them with something. Also, if the pains not getting under control you can might need a stronger opiate painkiller as well as the NSAID, something like tramadol is a good one.
P.S what inflam are you on? Voltarol/diclofenac is brill for back pain but its prescription only for the tablets although u can buy a topical gel.
HTH!
Get well soon honey

I had a back problem last year. I went to a chiropracter in Salford who was excellent. I could hardly walk into his room, but by the time I left nearly all the pain had gone. He used manipultaion, cupping and acupuncture. He was one of the top guys in the country, but I can't think of his name!! redface
I'll look it up and PM you if I find it.

You can top up the ibuprofen with parrotsatethemall - as the two don't clash. But if you have back problems it is worth while getting some more effective anti-infam's and pain releif from your GP. As mentioned Diclofenac is a good one - and if you get upset tummy from anti-inflam's, ask for enteric coated.
Aside from that - stop being a wimp and move around as much as you can without putting any strain on your back.

rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
...and your suggestion where to put the pencil wasn't bad either...
Thanks Polo, it's a problem i've had for over 20 years after one of my bouts of stupidity as a kid. I have a complaint that is medically known as 'a feckered back'. manage to do this at least once a year and just have to hobble round like someone the same age as Sarge. should be Ok in a week or two but the docs can't do a thing for it
A strategically placed hot water bottle ( or heat pack of you're really posh ) will work wonders ( though do make sure you wrap it in a pillowcase or towel to stop it burning yoyr skin....unless you're really hard :giggle:
sorry to hear about yr back pain, speaking as someone who has a massage on a monthly basis, i wld strongly reccomend doing this, because of my disability etc im often sitting in the one positoion a lot, also found a grt deal of stiffness in my lower back untill having a regular massage, done this for several yrs now, not only will yr back improve but there will be other health benefits etc, i always feel wonderful after it i wld reccomend it any time. hope this helps, get better soon lol lol
Came to this one a bit late (due to weekend in New York, poor us). But hope that the problem has eased up during the missing few days.
I suffer from back pain from time to time (like everyone else on the site, it seems). My recommendation is (once it's better) to do regular exercises to prevent the next episode. Nothing spectacular, just standard physio sort of stuff. Including arching the back like a cat (or you might call it the doggy exercise).
Anyway, all the best and hope the improvement is continuing.
Love Rose and Paul
I have a bad back (car crash) but until recently it hasnt really affected me al that much......I did go to an Osteopath for treatment and I felt amazing afterwards....but I cant afford to have any more at the moment.
I would go swimming, but I tend to do depths rather than lengths nowadays....rolleyes
lol
Thanks Rose and Paul, Dlep and Oral Guy, I am doing some phsio excercises (very slowly I will say) and I am seeing an improvement. All feeling has come back in my left leg and the pain is no where near as bad as it was.
I do swim (lenghts) and find that it does help with the muscles in my back as they are being exercised without any weight being put on them, but at the moment I cant get in and out of the pool wink
Thanks to everyone for all their comments and I promise not ask for sympathy again, (I was feeling pretty down that day)
Hi nwc so sorry to hear of your back problems (and those of other members).
Having suffered from a prolapsed disc and loss of space in discs above that I have probably tried every type of treatment known to man!
Eventually I discovered that manipulation is not a good idea as it simply puts more stress on the damaged discs. Accupuncture is still my best form of pain relief when the sciatic nerve is trapped (that's what's causing the problem with your leg). It usually takes several treatments but the relief is instant and absolute heaven!
Because of my problems I tried reflexology (massaging the feet) and found this a great help-so much so that I spent the next 3 years training and am now qualified in reflexology and reiki. I am not looking for clients but can assure you that these treatments work on the body as a whole and you feel relaxed and rejuvenated from head to toe.
Initially, when my back starts to play up I take ibuprofen and paracetamol alternately at 2 hour intervals until I can get a colleague to treat me.
If you would like to speak to me in more detail pm me and I can give you my number.
Other members please note this is a one off. I am not looking for any clients. Would just like to help a fellow swinger who is in pain.
Hope you continue to improve.
Regards
Wetnix
