Further to a conversation in work today, if you decide you fancy a takeaway do you have 'your' dishes which you order every time, or do you consult the menu and decide whatever takes your fancy?
I was actually surprised how many folk said they have the same things every time... Me? I live dangerously and decide when I get there.
Sometimes I'm plesantly surprised - sometimes, I wish I ordered stuff I know!
(I'm bored - apologies in advance for clogging up the forum ce soir! redface)
I normally order the same: dim sum with ginger and spring onion and then beef in blackbean sauce with soft noodles. On the odd occasion where I've ordered something else I'm always disappointed sad
Oddly enough even though I know what I'm ordering I still always get the menu out and have a look at it before I order despite knowing what I want dunno What's that all about :dunno:
Oh good god no... I have the same every time. So much so that when my brother was here and he phoned to order the lady in the Chinese finished his sentence for him when he was starting to say "can I have the sauce separate please!" redface
*goes to cook dinner* wink

Exactly! surprisedops:
Where I live, a take away means sheep rustling rolleyes
Oh exactly the same, I am far too boring to even thing about changes!
Generally we order the same each time.
Saves forgetting any thing such as the curry sauce redface
I order the same thing redface surprisedops:
Chinese is always special fried rice & sausage and chips with spare ribs for the mini me
pizza (nearly always dominoes) is a small garlic bread, chicken strippers & wedges, and a personal Hawaiian
If I do pub lunch I always have the same thing to - gammon steak & egg
Creature of habit me
You order sausages from the Chinese?!

Yes unless I go home then my son still has sausage & chips and I have special fried rice with a side order of 3 fish cakes because they are divine redface

My kids sometimes get sausages from the Chinese too - I'm more worried about Tan ordering special fried rice without any kind of sauce!!
If I'm having Chinese I tend to have beef with mushrooms or beef in black bean sauce (although I then end up picking out all the green peppers because I don't like them surprisedopssmile I do sometimes have a change though, but then I almost always wish I'd stuck with what I know :lol2:
Variety is the spice of life and all that...
I can't believe we have resident swingers here who will happily shag different people, but won't stray from their usual Chinese or Indian meal! lmao!
You mean you don't fancy different prawn balls in your dim sum?
I order the same each time a set menu for two, however this does not mean that we don't get to try different things as they seldom deliver the set menu as described.
I have beef mushroom with chips. Sometimes I have rice. But I prefer chips.

 Yum!!
Your avatar scares me though. I have visions of Emu trying to bite Michael Parkinson's head off now :scared:

battered sausages are vile! :scared:
I often go for different things. In restaurants abroad I guess and order stuff I either have never tried or can't translate.
I know loads of people who always have the same thing but I feel that's a real shame. So many experiences missed.
Perhaps we need a food-swinging culture - you know, trying something new each time. (Rather than someONE new). :giggle:

It doesn't need sauce :loon: A few chips nicked from sons plate (before salt & vinegar has been added) and hey presto
A meal that does me 3 nights :giggle:

We live in the arse end of nowhere, so the choice of takeaways is rather limited. We have a fairly local chinese, and an indian which is very expensive. We usually try to order one new dish each time, but otherwise stick to tried and tested favourites rolleyes
<<<<<<<<<<<<Anyone offering to be our new dish?

I'm with PK on this one.. I always check the menu in the drawer but know what I want already and if I ever do order anything else, always end up saying 'should have gone with the usual' (crispy beef Szechaun style) - yum yum! smile
I have one of about four or five favourites usually.

Could be either
I do the same thing.....
for the chinese its aromatic duck... followed by beef/chicken chow mein.....
for the indian it is chicken/lamb kurma and a sweet naan bread...
I can't eat anything too spicy anymore.... (incident involving a chilli con carne when i was on a school exchange trip to germany.... lol  you know when you see steam coming out of people ears in cartoons.. i think i did that..... burnt every taste bud i had!!!)
Ummm
mine is always Tarkha Dahl - starter,
Vegetable Jalfrezi - starter
Peshwari Nan.
I look at the menu for the number but never vary what I get.
Well now that that flippin recession has hit good n proper (I refuse to call it a feckin Credit Crunch - sounds like exercise for your wallet!) we've kinda stopped doing take-away in favour of being all coupley and cooking it ourselves - which is a surprisingly fun thing to do!
We've got some damn good recipes from that there "tinterweb" and so far we've nailed sweet n sour, egg fried rice, singapore noodles (and also by default singapore fried rice) and chicken egg foo yung. Next on the list is crispy shredded chilli beef, kung po chicken, chow mein and szechuan.
Curry's are easy lol.
We're soooo skint!
