talking vs listening

Right after a conversation last night with dek i thort i would make a thread :laughabove:
Dek has this thing about me being to quiet, not talkative enough bla bla and often let him lead conversations rolleyes

I am more of a listener who sits quietly in the back ground then gives judgement later on. i have always been that way and prefer to watch peoples emotions/gestures rather than going in full steam ahead when you may not of heard all the facts. :confused2:
This changes on here tho as i never seem to shut up (according to him anyway) I grew up with chatterboxes so to get a word in edgeways was hard work this seems to have stayed with me basically if i dont feel the need to say anything i dont, simple as that dunno

So are you a talker or listener??? and why do you feel you are like that????

Im an inbetween, I generally talk to much with people I know and feel comfortable but not so much with people im a little unsure of.
If I am worring about something I don`t talk about it at all and it drives mr lyns potty.

I'm more of a listener as I'm trained as a Counsellor so I kinda got used to listening to people...
I can talk and have a really passionate conversation when I'm in the mood or depending on who I'm talking to...

On here I'm gobby and I can be IRL too but I can listen especially when it comes to someone's problems.
Depends on the situation so I've gone for "in between". cool

I know a few people who claim they're great listeners when they are in fact either gossips or just like to make themselves look good. Saying you're a good listener, to me, is like saying you've got a great sense of humour. It's so conceited and it can only really be judged by other people, not yourself.
IMO, anyway. wink

Being a good talker depends on who im talking to.
A few bevvy's normally makes me talk alot more though, then I become the bollock's talker lol

I can listen for hours- but if I'm with someone who doesn't talk much I'll chatter away, or indeed ask them questions to encourage them to talk.

I think I am more of a listener than a talker...but I do talk loads if I am nervous.
Prefer to listen to someone though than talk about me, makes me a bit of a Marjorie Prupes though :cry:

Am very much a listener, i suppose because with my job i listen to people problems all day....but you can also find a lot stuff out about people by simply listening...goes back to the thread on people watching, maybe thats what i like to do?

I'd probably say in between. I'm a chatterbox I know I can talk and talk and I love nights when I have company and we pop open the wine and put the world to rights!
But, I know when to listen at the same time and I appreciate that everyone has a right to be heard so whilst I like to have my point of view, I like to hear others' also.
On of my draw backs unfortunately is when people come to me with problems, I tend to go into advisor mode instead of just sitting back and really listening.
