I don't know a lot about the subject...so i went and had a look at what was actually said.....rather than look at a tabloid headline... (very good job by the way... do you work for the daily mail????)

Apolagies Fabio if I made a sweeping statement to get my point across and as for the daily mail it was not my source. But hell if they would like to offer me a job i'm sure it would beat working 7 days a week whilst covered in grease. lol

Guess it's not a good time to post the idea that caravans should be subject to roadtax, mot's and insurance then? bolt

My caravcan receives a yearly service....
Costs me £400 a year to insure AND I'm covered via my car insurace for any damage to third parties..

so we are talking about the top 1% of polluting cars (not necessarily 4x4's)... and if this then subsidises the cars with the lowest rate of emissions (bio-diesel, electric ect) to go free then surely it can't be a bad thing.. and maybe people will take that into consideration when buying a car....

Show me an electric/non poluting/eco friendly car that will pull a 1500kg caravan and all associated luggage/kids etc AND that is affordable and I might think of buying it...

All you people who drive Chelsea tractors you can afford an extra 20 quid a year. After all. What pisses me off is I have a small collection of vehicles and I have to insure them all even though I can only drive/ride one a ta time. now tht'a the real rip off.

Admiral do a deal for mutliple car owners????????
Having just read all the new rates for road tax I find that my tax has gone from £165 a year to £195 a year.....
Fukin outrageous..... mad :x :x

the 4x4's arnt the the problem buses (especially london buses) & HGV's are the most polluting vehicles on the road.

Have you considered that bus pollution per passenger mile is far lower than other vehicles. As for HGVs how do you think the country would run without them.

It's only 60p per week - I fail to see what's the big deal.

How much pollution has been made making the electric to run it.

And what do I get for my £195 a year????
Do I get any extra ???
Do I get more than I did before the budget????

roadworks , traffic jams ,floods and potholes!!!!!!!!!!!!
smile :) :)
oh...and don`t forget ,you will be helping fund a few more speed cameras!!!!!!!!!
I'm with Steve on this
I drive a 4x4 - but as my weekly commute takes me over the pennines in all weathers, I feel that my 'gas guzzler' is a neccessity for safety reasons and not a luxury.
My car is well maintained and has always passed any emissions tests.
The cars that should be targetted are those old ones which belch out smoke and fumes constantly!
Lets face it - this is a tax merely to appease the greens and to fool the public into thinking the labour party are hitting the slightly better off! Just another gimmick from a prime minister-in-waiting.

It all depends on what the emissions levels are on that vehicle...

Yes steve I know that. Seemingly they fall within the group/class levels as quoted by DVLA.
I cannot add to it as I am as clueless as the man in the street.
Hehe, but the people next door have three on them I am glad to say, so as the Russians would say in this situation "toughsky shitsky"

Does it really matter if you're a farmer in rural Devon or a housewife in Chelsea - it does not alter the fact that you have sufficient money to buy a 4x4 or SUV - never mind the purpose for which you have the car. When I lived in East Anglia we used a tractor if the ground going got tough - if you can afford the car surely you can afford the running costs, Petrol/ diesel at x miles to the gallon/ litre and therefore must be te same for all other running costs, insurance, car-tax etc. I'm not being a 'meanie' just my thoughs really.
rolleyes But you are assuming that we have additional disposable income to fund these increases...
Some of us work on a tight budget and this sort of thing means that we have to re-evaluate our spending...
Not everyone has a bottomless pit of money you know
