Got home yesterday to find the computer had received , updated and installed a Microsoft update . (We have ours set to automatically receive any new updates ).
We now find we can't delete the Browsing History or anything else from the tools drop down menu .
Suggestions gratefully received .
Thanks .
p.s We run Windows XP
Heres your solution, probably.
Start>My Computer> Control Panel> Internet options
There should be an option there that will solve your problem xxx
Tried that but still doesn't clear it . sad
Any other suggestions ? , please.
Throw your computer out of the window an buy another one x
What about trying windows restore to a previous setting. Choose the last date before the update and reinstall that. Should undo what ever the update had done and set your computer to run as it was.
Start .. search ... type in system restore.
Your computer should bring up where you system restore is. Right click on it. Click on 'restore my computer to an earlier setting'. You should get a calendar with the date on. Chose the date before the upgrade then click next. It should undo the upgrade.

What version of IE are you running ?
i have found in the past it got stuck, sound silly i know.
use this:

it will delete all record of your browsing history, including hidden ones. You will lose any cookies you have so if you have passwords and stuff you need write them down just incase. I never let my pc remember passswords so dont know if it will get rid of yours but suspect it will.
once reset you should be ok, but read instructions first as its a very efficient cleaner.
Ccleaner is good, It can be set up to not forget passwords and keep any cookies for sign ins etc, it is worth its weight in gold and the registry fixer is a natty little addition aswell.
One word for you......Firefox.
Bin that overblown too big and still not secure piece of tat that is Internet Explorer and get the faster, more secure, more customisable, free software.
You wont ever look back.

goto the left hand side of ie7 and click on the tools option
then goto delete browsing history then click all the buttons..
if that fails
do it manually
goto documents and settings into your own folder
goto local settings folder
delete the contens of :
temp
and tepory internet files
and history folder
Thanks guys and gals for all the information.
IE 7 still doesn't seem to be working corrrectly . The tools menu still doesn't appear to work clearing anything eg history ,temp internet files , cookies etc .
Managed to get round it by clearing it through the
Start Menu , my computer route .
Annoying , but a least prying little eyes won't come across any of the sites we visit .
Stiil a little concerned what else this update may have caused . Anyone else had problems ?
