Techie HELP please!!!

:fuckinghell: My wireless connection keeps cutting out for a few seconds every 20 minutes or so then reconnecting str8 away. It is driving me mad cause I get logged out of chatrooms when it happens. mad :x
Any ideas why this keeps happening to connection and how I can fix?

If it's a recent problem you may be encountering interference. Is there anything that has recently appeared near you that contains metal or would act like an aerial?
You may try enabling "Interference Robustness" (on the Mac), but this can also reduce overall performance of your wireless network.

It could be several things either individually or together in various combinations.
You could be receiving interference from other wifi users on the same channel, especially if they are using any of the proprietary methods for increasing range and speed.
You could be dropping connection because your signal is very weak to start with.
You could be using an unencrypted connection that someone is piggy backing on.
You could be using crap components/router etc (see Belkin for a starter).
There could be a high power microwave user close to you or between you and the access point.
The system could be set up incorrectly.
There could be an active DECT phone/Bluetooth transmitter close to either the access point or the wifi computer.
The list is endless I'm afraid.

Hi...as well as interferance causing it have you altered any settings on your modem or router?? May be worth resetting the router to default settings....mine has a little reset button on the back...only do this if you know how to get it going again tho smile.....ie getting your security back on line mainly.....moving the router may help to.....trial and error i'm afraid....
