Hello..... This is probably a pointless thread but I NEED help!
When I go to shut my system down sometimes I get a message saying that is not responding. I then have to click on end task to make the system shut down. Does anyone know why this happens and how I can get rid of it? It's really annoying!
I have Windows XP and (obviously) I use AOL as my ISP.
If you'd rather PM than clog up the Cafe with this pointless thread (it's obviously not something everyone wants to read)....please feel free to do so.
Thanks,
Kelly biggrin

Just to add that I've searched Google for an answer but haven't found anything!
Oh and also it only started happening since I got Broadband.
Not pointless at all - it may be something which is happening to others and your thread can help them too!
Sorry, I can't help. I don't run AOL and I wouldn't understand the answer to the question - struggled with the question quite frankly!! Ask me about other things and I'm fairly useful though lol

they truly are shite! and of course my post on the AOL helpboard 4 days ago is still unanswered! last time i posted on it they deleted my thread altogether rather than have other users see just how bad they are! i know this don't help in any way shape or form . . . . . .
neil x x x x ;-)
yanks on line my arse . . . . . i DONT want real player . . . i DONT want you to load when ever i go online . . . . . i DONT want you to download even more crap without asking me . . . . will you please give it a rest . . . . . .
What version of the aohell software are you using? If it's not AOL9 try downloading AOL 9 for broadband and uninstalling the old version and upgrading.
I use dial up on aohell 9 and I get that message sometimes too. I just click on end now and shut down anyway. haven't had any ill effects as far as I can tell. It is annoying, but doesnt seem to cause any problems dunno
Angel - the total technophobe
Sorry Sussex - I have AOL 9 on Broadband. We had a problem a little while back (not related) and completely reformatted the hard drive and installed everything new but it's still the same.
The other thing just before you shutdown, right click the my computer icon and select
manage. In the left hand pane you'll see event viewer, if you expand it you'll see 3
submenus below it, application, security and system. Right click each one in turn and
select clear all events. Shut down the comp and the next time you restart it go back to the
event viewer and see if it contains any errors or warnings, with the same time and
date as the shutdown. Hopefully that might give you a clue to the problem.
Thank you, I'll try that tonight and see how I get on!
