Just been and bought a USB memory stick, fine..........
However it comes with a CD that need to be loaded, the bad bit.
This CD is 8cm in diameter and my machine only takes CD's, what do I need now to make it work.
Many thanks
(women and their new toys, if it has batteries and I can get it to work redface )
normally they just fit in the same cd player on the same spine, they just dont fill up the whole cd slot.
can you handle not having the slot completely full??
eing so untechnical minded myself I had this problem a while ago with son's mp3 player disc.
Plugged device in anyway and pc recognised the usb device and allowed me to run it fron one of the autowizards.
Just a thought but good luck . . . .

you can usually find drivers for that kind of thing with a little search on there too.

Just load it in your usual tray = as long as the centre is firm your machine should read it. Well at least mine did

Lance - depends if the CD player is a slot or a tray!
My laptop has a slot (no comment reqd!) and it only takes full size CDs DVDs.
Sarah - most pen drives are Plug n Play even though they are supplied with additional software on CD. The s/w often isn't up to much.
However if it's a driver you'll need to go online as Steph said and d/l from the suppliers site.
What brand of pen drive is it?

although it pains me to say it, it seems im more a tray man myself.
although im waiting to try a slot....if there are any offers.
Sarah as alexandra just said USB drives are USUALLY plug in and play/use. I have a few and have never had to use the cd.
As for the cd itself, mines a tray with two grooves in one for small and one for standard disks, didnt realise they didnt come designed any other way dunno
Steph/Kaz
The tray drives are normally fine for both sizes!
However it's those PCs which just have a slot where 'SIZE MATTERS'!!!!

NOOOOOOO not another post on whether size matters, I suppose it depends on the size of the slot wink lol  bolt

So true! rolleyes
You can get plastic adapters that clip round the edge of small CDs for the slot loading drives, but you have to be very, very careful with them!
I'd try looking on the manufacturer's website for an answer, this must be a fairly common problem, as slot loading laptops are getting more and more popular.
lol

just a quick tip for using external devices
in the box in the bottom right corner (by the clock) you'll see a little box with a green arrow on it, when your device is plugged in.
click on this when you want to remove it and a pop up appears with the device or devices installed, select the relevent one and click it
your PC will now shutdown communications with it and make it much safer to remove.
by the way, the cd's you get with pendrives usually contain a little utility for formatting or adding a security password, never need the disc to use any pendrive i've had
slightly off on a tangent, but can someone tell me how to delete tracks from my mp3 player ?
