I'm investigating.
Has anyone had their teeth whitened? Did you do it professionally or with a home kit? Does anyone use any of the over the counter whitening toothpastes?
Any info appreciated.
Nola x lol
Not had my teeth whitened - thought about it a few times, decided I'm happy with what I use now.
Good whitening toothpaste is BlanX - think its from boots - cheaper in Morrison's (so I've been told). I used to use Beverly Hills but this is much better.
Being in the business so to speak lol teeth whitening is ok as long as not overdone. Nothing looks worse than stark white teeth really.
The only really successful way to have it done is through a dentist but can be very expensive and doesnt last forever.
Quick solution.
Tippex.
But as it runs, beware, you do look a little...erm...rabid... evil
I have. Didn't have the laser treatment but have had the trays (a mould is made from an impression of your teeth so that it fits excactly and you wear them with a bleaching gel in)
It worked really well but it was fairly expensive at nearly £200 and it can be a little bad pain, just twinges like when you eat something really cold.
This was a few years ago now and it does fade, although mine are still white they are not as good as they were, it's all the coffeee that I drink! I saw an advert for an offer on laser whitening the other day for only £99 so I am considering that as a top up.
Had mine done a few years ago - best thing I ever spent £200 on I reckon! Had them done at the dentist - they make a mould of your teeth so the gel goes in the right places. Like mistress sassy says, it can be a bit achy, but that doesn't last. My dentist sells me tubes of the whitening gel so I can 'refresh' my teeth - only get round to doing this once a year or so which is enough.
Well I could do that but in a numpty moment i threw the moulds away as I thought I wouldn't need them. So would have to get the mould done again, which I can't bear, that horrid cold putty in the mouth was too much even once. Eeew.biggrin

I have but when I did I told the dentist I didn't want blue/white teeth as I've got two friends that have had it done and they have glow in the dark type teeth now... mine seemed to come out OK.
It was the Zoom whitening thing at the dentist that took a couple of hours and then a home kit with gum shields and gel to take away and use (which I didn't really but still have it). Total cost was around You can get stuff off the internet much cheaper that you just do yourself at night.
The night after I'd had it done it was really painful/sensitive and felt like my teeth were wired into the mains but it was completely gone the following morning - the dentist said it would be pretty much like this though.
Pearl Drops or a lot of the smokers toothpastes are good for whitening... not that I smoke, but they do work.
Good luck, gimme a shout if you need any more info.

i was told by my dentist that using tooth whitening toothpaste are too abrasive and cause scratches on the tooth that new stains get a quicker grip on and that unless these toothpastes are regularly used teeth stain much quicker ... better to get the dentist to polish them than use whitening toothpastes as for the bleaching of them .. not something a am bothered about and wouldnt use. wouldnt a good dentist polish do the trick and be cheaper than a dentist bleach
Cheers all.
Much (non staining!) food for thought.

I've also done the home kits that come with trays you mould yourself (put them in hot water so they become soft and mould them round your teeth as they set). The whole kit cost around £70 including 3 lots of whitener, a UV light and a desensitising gel if your teeth feel a little sensitive afterwards.
No problems with sensitivity, but I have to confess I haven't used it much - can't be arsed sitting there with a gum shield and UV light in my mouth regularly lol
