I could possibly go with Amber on this one Jags.
Yes it is poor punctuation.....
however...
theres without an apostrophe is actually a misspelling of there is
Should we have a panel of adjudicators on this?
Ooooohhhhhh  The gremlins have been working in SH overnight smile
Last night Frecks made a spelling mistake in this thread:
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/58926.html
This morning all Frecks, and my posts have disappeared from this thread and the thread itself has been locked rolleyes
So apart from the posts on page 4 of this thread (which by the time Postie comes along could have disappeared) there is no evidence of the misdemeanor.
So unless frecks comes clean, the score is still only 2-0
Postie you're being nobbled mate   innocent
Note to self: don't reply in a hurry or when unable to concentrate redface

She is Alspals - theres another one. Asterisk - ta daaaaa.

I know you said that grammar is not included, but I'm still surprised that the lack of a comma here has not been picked up.
"She is Alspals." - Who is? It should have been "She is, Alspals."
Second thing - What about malaprops? Here postie did one by using admittance instead of admission
Quote by postie
Bollox*

I take that as an admittance.....
lol
1-0
Would it count if FB used the wrong word?
Chris
I know we would all like to see Freckldbird in a club (of her choosing) but it does look like it is spelling only. Freckledbird just just rant off completely random words, if they are spelt correctly then thats ok.
The use of ' is more important because it is part of the word and if it is missed then the word is mispelt. I think Bilko explained that one well

Yeah right LOL :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
thats the way to go, if yer can't win then cheat
Hmmmm..... FB in a club or Postie being rogered with a large marrow dunno .............. go Bev :bounce: :bounce:
Poor Freckledbird.... she's going to be so nervous of posting anything now.... and I can make as many spelling mistakes as normal, as mine don't count. ( I'd have lost on my first day if it was the first to 10)
All I have to worry about is if come December the 24th, FB is on 9-0 and is somehow sober.. then I have to pay a forfeit... of FB's choosing
Yet with all my little helpers.... and my beady eyes too, i reckon FB may not last out the week...
So... in the interests of fairness, a clarification of the rules:
All rules in the original post.
plus to help FB out.... if it is contentious, or slang, or grammar, or anything that isn't an outright misspelling of a word... then FB is given the benefit of the doubt... American words count as misspellings though... such as "color" , as they are just daft colonials who mangle our language and must be stopped...
....and I still think i am in with a chance!
lol
Mr-FB, lovely man that he is, has suggested that we might consult the Official Scrabble Words book, for clarification of whether a word is allowable or not.
Have to add though, he's also been pointing stuff out this morning (whilst clothes shopping), which 'would be OK for a club' rolleyes No faith at all - and he's said he won't go with me, the git redface
FB........... concentrate........ lol
I have every confidence in your ability to remain focused....... and grammatically correct at all times.... lol
Whatever it takes, cheat, lie, delete, deny................ any mistakes you make...... lol

Hope this helps you just a tad... Oh and just so you know... I will be on my very bestest behaviour for the evening biggrin

A comma isn't part of the word, it's a part of the setence which is made up of words and punctuation. A comma, or lack thereof, will not alter the meaning of the word, but could affect the meaning of the sentence.
Anyone would thing that you are willing Frecklybint to fail!

no not at all, i just don't understand how you can say punctuation isn't part of a word, if my kids don't put them in the teacher corrects the word as a spelling mistake, their spelling tests have words with comma's in that are not part of a sectance they are just a list of words, but they would still get it wrong if they missed the puncuation out.

Are you talking about commas ,,,, or apostrophes '''' ? Apotrophes are part of the word, but a comma isn't. Unless you are thinking of what are sometimes called inverted commas.

Bloody hell she/he's a cruel teacher, even I don't give my class words with apostrophes in them, to learn for spelling tests. They learn how to use them as part of punctuation lessons but not learn words with them in.
