I don't normally get caught in the 'paying more for the wrappings than the Easter egg' line of thought but I thought I would treat Madame Smooth this year and buy a 'big' egg.
A Thorntons 'premium' chocolate one was purchased from ASDA for £10. I was delighted I suppose, when I saw the same egg in Tescos for £15. If ASDA are making a profit at £10 Tescos are doing very nicely thankyou and ripping the customer off. Probably by the end of the day there won't be many left on the shelves and once again Tescos will be exceedingly happy whilst we the consumer have been ripped off in the belief that Tescos claim to be the cheapest!!!!!
I'm on the soapbox now. There has been some controversy over the size of chocolate bars shrinking without a reduction in cost...effectively making it a price increase. Back to Tescos again; Their fantail prawns are a favourite of ours. We have just noticed that the plastic tray now has a divider in the moulding making two compartments....which, you've guessed it, hold less than before. Yet another rip-off that people probably won't notice. 'Every little helps', it certainly does, only its Tescos not the customer.

Asda (and Aldi) are almost always cheaper then Tescos and Sainsbury's. Waitrose is as bad as Marks & Spencer's. Morrison's is about level with Asda.
You can get bargains at any of them - but if you have a life and you don't want to go traipsing round 4 or 5 stores for your shopping - use Asda or Morrisons. Choose whichever is a) closer or b) has cheaper petrol at the time.
Or get in the habit of seeking out the cheaper local shops and farm shops - they often have great baragins and execllent quality. Can cost a fortune in petrol getting to all of them for your weekly needs though.
Never buy branded basics - bread is bread is bread - carrots are carrots are carrots. Don't pay for fancy packaging.
Don't do without the treats - but shop around - you saw the difference on one single Spring fertility celebration egg - add that up across a year!
start sucking on toilet blocks.
they will last you months.
at least it will stop you moaning.
Go to tesco's website, and enter the details into the price checker bit, and if they are more expensive compared to asda, they will email you a double the difference voucher!
Yes seen some other day in co-op buy 1 get 2 free yesh good you think but the 1 you had to buy was so they still 50 pence more than asda lol only £1 each there,
When these superstores start posting the levels of profits they do, you know you're being ripped off as well as the farmer/artisan who made whatever it is they are selling.
It might be a good idea to match like-for-like. The Thornton's Premium Egg`on sale at Tesco's is the 610gm version ( - per 100gms). The Thornton's Premium Egg on sale at Asda's is the 330gm version ( - per 100gms)
By my maths that makes Tesco's cheaper for nearly twice the size of egg.
